Yes, I know that as well. My concern is the best PS3 games ever didn't crack the TOP 20 mark and one of them was a bundle. Software trackign could just be off... or who knows.  Haven't really looked at it.  Though yeah... when hardware spikes new software purchases usually do spike since people who buy a system buy multiple games right away usually... however that spike could of been equalized over a number of titles.

Which looking at the numbers seems to be the case.

Last week PS3 sold 1.44 million pieces of software

The week before it sold 1.23.  200 thousand titles more isn't too much to scoff at.  Though I do admit i would of expected that number to have been at least 500,000...

Maybe it was an exceptionally poor release week compared to last week.

Used games are the obvious reason for lack of software boost. If the titles on the ps3 were not enough for you to buy it at 399$, why would you buy the games for 20-30$ more when it drops to 299? it makes no sense.

PS3 is a bad blu-ray player. I'm sure some bought it, but its an expensive one and i'd say its a low percentage.

you would know the "best" ps3 games? People take time to get aquainted with a new console before purchasing a crazy amount of games for it. I bought a slim too but I've owned a ps3 since a few months after launch so I didn't buy any software. There are lots of people like me. Ps3 isn't the best idea for a blu-ray player anymore.


So you are one of the 150+K who already owned a PS3, but bought the PS3 Slim anyways. Ok.. now I know why software sales are so low. We have a lot of double PS3 purchasers here. People already have the original PS3 and these games. Problem solved. Thanks man.

If you close your eyes and wish for the PS3 to fail, it wont. But you can keep trying.

I don't think so. Maybe some used games were purchased, but more gamers I know who buy a NEW Game console, buy NEW Games. At least the first couple of titles anyway. Most gamers will by the most popular if they never have played it before.

I own a PS3, so why would I want that? lol!! I just pre-ordered Uncharted 2. I only buy quality exclusives for my PS3.

If that was your sole reason to buy a PS3 then that was pretty stupid imo. You can buy a Bluray player for less than 1/2 the price of a PS3.

Now, if you bought it to play games just as much or more than the Bluray capabilities, then that is a whole different story.
