Forums - Sales - Worldwide Up!!!!

It's kind of funny not one person has mentioned the Wii was in third place in the US this week. What a drop. Next few weeks PS3 numbers will come back to the pact in Europe.  It's a good thing the PS3 numbers spiked a lot in EU/Japan because the US number is a lot less then I thought it would be

Awesome for PS3!!!!!1111111

Although I'm slightly upset about PSP sales in Japan. :O

Oh It has issues, as with the prices of the other two coming down the $249 price points looks silly now.

It looks like the PS3 sales increase is coming at the expense of Nintendo and not the 360.

Nintendo is down substantially year over year... 360 is up marginally year over year...

Has Nintentendo domination ended? 360 is only 20,000 behind Nintendo per week. PS3 is enjoying the price cut... Nintendo has to do something to get momentum going otherwise they are in trouble.

Wii was substantially down year over year before the price cut too, it's not much moreso now. Wii is down year on year because the only thing generating much excitement is Wii Sports Resort, while last year it was supported by the very strong legs of both Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit.

Wii is also down from last week.  Given that 360 and PS3 are ramping up for the holidays that is not good news for the Wii world.  The Wii seems to have lost a tonne of momentum over the year.  It appears to be accelerating downward to the point where third is a possibility.

Unlike the technically more capable 360 and PS3, I feel it will be harder for Wii to gain momentum back.  "Just another cool motion controlled game" and/or price drop will not be enough.  They have to come out with another major innovation that people can attach to without replacing the console as Sony and Microsoft seem to be interested in a 10 year cycle and Wii will have to follow.  Especially, next year when both Sony and Microsoft are going to hit back in the motion control front without replacing the consoles.

Does this mean we go into "Wii is doooooooomed!!!!" mode now?

Please do. It'll make for some great quotes come December.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

I dont think the public have the appetite for another piece of white plastic... i really dont,

And that puts Nintendo in a very difficult situation...  360 and PS3 eating the motion controller advantage...  Nintendo out of gimmicks to push consoles out the door...

This is where the architecture of the 360 and PS3 hardware will start to win in the long run...

Domed..... man, get it right!

You think Nintendo will do a hardware redesign on the Wii? That might give it the sales boost it needs!

So the Wii is either Doomed or Domed.
