The word comfortably was never said. The Actual phrase was "Over half a million PS3 slims sold last week according to VGChartz preliminary data"
It seems to me that that means 500k - 550 k. Any more and it would be described as "Almost 600k sales" rather than "over 500k"

Research before you post, scottie.
"Update - we have already upgraded the figure to 500-600k as all pointers now suggest the figure to be comfortably over half a million."

Fair enough, although the midpoint of 500-600k is below the 570k needed. So there is a chance it will get to 24 mill I spose
I think Sony told in Gamescom 23,8 mill sold worlwide...By now we must be near to 25 millions
welll you got to take in note that not all of the 500,000 are new PS3 owners, some are probably one who traded in their old PS3 for the slim
Next targets:
MegaDrive/Genesis: 29 million (PS3 is this gen's Genesis for now I guess)
Atari 2600: 30 million (an interesting one. Generation winner if I'm not mistaken)
Nintendo 64- 32.93 million (And one of the best consoles of all time)
Super Nintendo Entertainment System: 49.1 million (again, a generation winner)
All of those are pretty much confirmed, I think. Tentative one:
Nintendo Entertainment System: 61.91 million
LOL ones:
PlayStation: 102.49 million
PlayStation 2: 138 million
Even behind the 360 and Wii, the PS3 could potentially be one of the top five best selling home consoles of all time. Failure, my ass.
Any guess for next weeks numbers for PS3? I'm guessing 250K units next week and 200K a week after that. A long shot to hit 25 million by the end of the month.

The PS3 will remain a failure even if it becomes one of the top five selling home consoles of all time, simply because it's highly doubtful that it will ever make a net profit. Look at it this way: If you have thousands of people working on a project for a decade (R&D, game development, marketing, PR) and end up with losses it's certainly going to be a disappointment. That's what you should always remember when you see someone call the PS3 a failure and that also was, is and will always be one of the main reasons why the PS3 is labelled a failure. It is and never was solely about sales numbers, it's also about tons of money going to waste. I regularly see people forget about the financial side, so I hope this helps these people to understand why the PS3 is still called a failure and will continue to be called one. |
The cost of the lost that sony gets from every PS3 is so small that they make it up and profit from every piece of Software they sell for the system.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
