Well those games (GTA series) each had different stories with new characters ( and some old) which kept each game fresh with good (not great) storytelling. Where as L4D really didn't have a story at all. It was you start here, 20 seconds later meet a boomer, 2 minutes later meet a smoker then a hunter, a mob of zombies, then a witch, activate something that sends a mob of more zombies, then a safe house, read stuff on a wall, get ammo, rinse and repeat until you call for help, then you defend until help comes. Then do all that over again but on new maps and there you have it. You just beat L4D single player.

*facepalm*

Why, why would anyone play this game by themselves? You are completely missing the point and frankly what L4D is all about if you're playing this alone. Beating L4D on normal with 3 bots is not only offensively easy, but you miss out on the enjoyment of playing with human teammates and ensuing hilarity from various situations.

I've said it before but anyone who has only played L4D in single player is completely clueless, and their opinion is worthless because they have no idea what left 4 dead is even like.

Yes, and anyone who plays a multiplayer cooperative/competitive game by themselves and then passes judgement is a moron. It's like playing counter strike or team fortress with bots and thinking what you played is all there is to it.

Here's a quote from my Left 4 Dead review:

"Don't play single player. Not only with you be teamed up with 3 bots, but it makes for a very boring and detached experience. Notably missing from single player is the excitement and desperation prevalent when playing with 3 human players being pummelled by infected. Since AI teammates eliminate what makes this game so entertaining, please heed my advice and steer clear of this mode altogether. If want an engaging or even good single player experience, look elsewhere. Got it? Good."

Ok then what is the difference in playing L4D with humans and L4D2 with humans? You seen the previews. the new types of zombies in L4D2 are similar to those in L4D (some are new). melee weapons (which is used to easily fend off zombies up close) and ammo (Which can help and hurt you in some cases). Besides the gore, I don't see how they couldn't add this stuff through DLC( maps, weapons, characters, ect). Its bad enough there charging $50 for pretty much a L4D GoTY edition. I would like to know how Valve is going to support both games without trying to decrease the value of one.

Sure... but who said anything about playing it solo?

AA Title confirmed.

I am boycotting until valve gives a price cut for people that already have the original trough steam.

Or until the L4D2 price drops to $25 on it's own on steam.

I am not buying at launch price, because I didn't like the stunt valve pulled saying that we would get way more content free only to announce a sequel 8 months later and have no new campaigns hit the game yet.

I think they should have choose to make L4D2 a paid add-on and not charge us for a full fledge tittle. They didn't give the L4D1 buyers the support they promise prior to them buying.

The only reason L4D2 is going to cost $50 is because of the xbox 360 . It is is not being viable as an add-on trough MS LIve. If the game was only for PC would be a cheap or free add-on for sure.

At the end of the day VALVE LIED!

You lie!

Ive played them all.. LMAO!

No need for it kid, no need.

You know you'd be more effective getting your point across without the childish antics.

The fact that you can't see 25 new maps (5 per campaign with 5 campaigns when the original only had 4) all of them longer then the original L4D, big gameplay changes, and be more story based as worthy of a full priced sequel simply dumbfounds me to the point I cannot take your argument seriously.  This is no rushed port, it is no expansion, and there's so much content it couldn't be patches or DLC.  Honestly it just seems like you want to bash it because it's a good PC/360 exclusive, you've not hidden your bias, and when you see a thread that you think you can get away with bashing it you jump on it.

1.The fact that you can't see 25 new maps (5 per campaign with 5 campaigns when the original only had 4) all of them longer then the original L4D, 2.big gameplay changes, 3.and be more story based as worthy of a full priced sequel simply dumbfounds me to the point 4.I cannot take your argument seriously.  This is no rushed port, it is no expansion, 5.and there's so much content it couldn't be patches or DLC6.Honestly it just seems like you want to bash it because it's a good PC/360 exclusive, you've not hidden your bias, and when you see a thread that you think you can get away with bashing it you jump on it.

Stop making this into something its not. Im not bashing, im not trolling, im not stating lies or make up facts. I made a huuuge post above for twestern where i clearly brought up what L4D2 will deliver.

  1. Like i said, if the game didn't have new maps, it would be the same exact same game. It's hardly something you can put down in the + column. But okay. New maps, great.
  2. Like what? New AI Director that makes the game a little more random? Remember, they said the first one would also be new everytime you played it, and was it? No. And like i said, after X amount of hours playing the game, you'll never get that "oh shit, they are above us" feeling anymore. Because you know they might drop down on you.
  3. Link? Because both the teams behind L4D2 and various fansites have wrote that the only "story" in the game will be the random stuff the playable characters say to eachother. This was also stated by Chet Faliszek when asked about the story in the game and the rumored cutscenes: "Chet has said that the team is "moving away" from this [cutscenes], which may mean that the movies will be short, or perhaps will be removed entirely."
  4. Why cant my reason be taken seriously? - I obviously have a more updated knowledge on the franchise and kept stating my reasons over and over again. But both you and twestern just seem to want to make this into something its not. Its not a rant, its not ment to troll or trashtalk the game. I've said that the game will probably be just as fun as the first one, but thats the problem right there. Its just as the first one.
  5. There really isnt so much content. Some of the new characters and zombies in L4D2 were suppose to have been in L4D but got cut. And new weapons are patched and put up as DLC all the time for other games. The ONLY reason i can think of why this cant be patched, is if they cant tweak the AI Director the way they want it for L4D, but had to rebuild it. And that my friend, is not worthy of 60$.
  6. OH C'MON! Why would i bash it because its a PC/360 multiplat? I know why you wrote it, but i want to hear it from you! Its not like i'll miss out on the game, its not like i have a secret mission over the internet trying to downplay 360 games, and its not like i didnt enjoy the first L4D. So lets hear it... why would i bash the game because its PC/360?

And to get back on topic, i case you missed it.. heres the previews, hand on and impressions.

"While Left 4 Dead 2 certainly doesn't do anything drastically different, we're confident that it will offer another highly addictive experience of the zombie apocalypse." http://www.left4deadforums.com/20841-left-4-dead-2-preview.html

"Make no mistake, Left 4 Dead 2 is the same game that players fell love with last year. The mechanics are exactly the same. As explained to me by Valve's Chet Faliszek, the goal in creating the sequel wasn't to make the game more complicated" http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/left-4-dead-2-hands-on-4-you/

"And yet, it is still the same game on the surface. Whether or not the most significant changes will manage to dull the sting of forking out the cash for a new retail game, we'll have to wait and see. Either way, one thing is clear -- it's still damned fun." http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/left-4-dead-2-hands-on-4-you/

"Otherwise our Left 4 Dead 2 experience was much like Left 4 Dead 1, but that's not a bad thing by any means as Valve has crafted a simple (on the surface anyway) gameplay design that just works." http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/09/05/pax-2009-new-left-4-dead-2-hands-on-impressions/

"I don't believe it is any coincidence that each of the new special Infected have a similar silhouette to their L4D1 counterpart. The Charger is big in all dimensions like the Tank, the Spitter is taller than normal Infected, and skinny, just like the Smoker, and the Jockey crawls around on the ground like the Hunter." http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/Dexter345/pax-09-left-4-dead-2-impressions-147834.phtml

"What I played of Left 4 Dead 2 felt well-polished and fun, not too different from the first Left 4 Dead, but different enough." http://www.gamernook.com/news/view/post/59991/

.... see? Its not just me who think this game is like the first one.

Yeah Valve is great and makes good quality games. Screw those boycotters.
