L4D was a rip off at full price, until it gets 10-20 more maps its still not worth it IMO.

Agreed. The lack of content is outrageous. If it was released as a budget title it might have been worth the money, but the lack of maps, weapons, and enemy variety made the game extremely tedious after a couple of hours.

I have played 200 or so hours of L4D, mostly playing the four included campaigns in versus mode. Many of those on my friends list have 200-500 hours total play time with no sign of stopping. Since I have the PC version I've also played some great user made campaigns in addition to a little bit of survival. While I see where you're coming from with the complaint that the game is light on content out of the box(even though I could play another 50 hours of No Mercy alone just because it changes so much each time), lacking weapons is a rediculous complaint and tells me you haven't played enough to realize how well the few guns in the game work. Versus mode changes quite a bit depending on how each team is playing and as such is very diverse.

It didn't help that Valve bragged it would be "different every time" when the only things that change are the number of zombies and their spawn points.

Oh boy, this is completely wrong. If you're playing campaign, here are some of the things that change: Number of common infected, intensity/frequency of horde attacks, number of common infected encountered during cresendo events, tier two gun placement,  bonus item (medpack,pills,molly/pipebomb,second pistol) placement, misc. item (gas can, propane canister) placement, music duration and intensity among other things. The infected spawning in campaign mode is controlled by ai director who works with how your team operates and tries to find weaknesses.

Frankly, I got a lot more enjoyment out of the Nazi Zombies mode in CoD:WaW. At least there was a genuine sense of peril in that game.

Playing campaign on advanced (consider this "normal" if you have any FPS experience) or expert, and especially in versus produces many genuine moments of peril. There is also a survival type mode. Sounds to me like to play through a couple campaigns on normal and thought you were awesome. Play versus against decent, organized opponents or an expert campaign and you will get your ass kicked so fast you'll be struggling to figure out what happened.

My replies in bold.

Why is the boycott stupid? Valve promised a load of DLC for L4D, and they have yet to deliver it, not only that but L4D wasn't exactly a long game

Tell that to the people that have been playing it for 100's of hours...

And if I remember correctly, L4D is getting a new campaign and a lot of the fixes from L4D2.

the campaign really isnt that great. Even fanatics of the game agree a half-hour of gameplay isn't much of an addition if you compare it to the last major TF2 update. They really aren't giving L4D as much support as past games which is saddening.

All we want is at least 1 new special infected (add the screamer which was supposed to be in the game originally) and a couple of new campaigns. Give us 3 more campaigns longer than a half-hour and most of the complains of lack of support would vanish.

Answer me this: how much does the typical DLC give you?

Now, answer me this: how much does a single L4D campaign with multiplayer support give you?

Seriously people, stop bitching so much.  Who care if the update isn't as good as TF2?  If you consider TF2 some of the best updates around, why should everything be the best?  Stop whining and just be happy you're getting something and you're getting something for free.

Because Counter Strike, Half-Life, and Portal all had similar support from Valve. Of course we should expect simi;ar for a Valve title since its a Valve title and they noramlly always have incredible support for their games.

Again, typical Valve support >>>> most other support for games.  If people would just stop being babies and think about it, they would realize that the planned DLC isn't a bad thing and equal to if not more than most games.

Also, what support did Portal have?

Wow I think this is exactly what Twes was talking about... seriously people quit bitching, I mean Valve gave free DLC to the 360 owners despite MS making them pay to put that DLC up when most DLC that expansive costs at least 10 dollars in points if not more.

I love how everyone thats demanding Valve give them free stuff is completely ignoring that were in the middle of a massive recession. If you want Valve to stay an independent developer how about you stop whining that Valve didn't give you enough free goodies and actually buy something they put thousands of hours into.

And to the person that said L4D didn't give them a sense of peril or wasn't difficult. How about taking the game off easy and putting it on the hardest setting and try saying that again.

How many sequels do you think there are that give much more than that?

Sure, there are some sequels that do give more than just completely new maps, new story, new characters, new enemies, improved gameplay, revamped core gameplay (AI Director) but given how most sequels go, this one is pretty good.

The next time you try to pwn someone and sound witty think before you press post.
