Agreed. The lack of content is outrageous. If it was released as a budget title it might have been worth the money, but the lack of maps, weapons, and enemy variety made the game extremely tedious after a couple of hours. I have played 200 or so hours of L4D, mostly playing the four included campaigns in versus mode. Many of those on my friends list have 200-500 hours total play time with no sign of stopping. Since I have the PC version I've also played some great user made campaigns in addition to a little bit of survival. While I see where you're coming from with the complaint that the game is light on content out of the box(even though I could play another 50 hours of No Mercy alone just because it changes so much each time), lacking weapons is a rediculous complaint and tells me you haven't played enough to realize how well the few guns in the game work. Versus mode changes quite a bit depending on how each team is playing and as such is very diverse. It didn't help that Valve bragged it would be "different every time" when the only things that change are the number of zombies and their spawn points. Oh boy, this is completely wrong. If you're playing campaign, here are some of the things that change: Number of common infected, intensity/frequency of horde attacks, number of common infected encountered during cresendo events, tier two gun placement, bonus item (medpack,pills,molly/pipebomb,second pistol) placement, misc. item (gas can, propane canister) placement, music duration and intensity among other things. The infected spawning in campaign mode is controlled by ai director who works with how your team operates and tries to find weaknesses. Frankly, I got a lot more enjoyment out of the Nazi Zombies mode in CoD:WaW. At least there was a genuine sense of peril in that game. Playing campaign on advanced (consider this "normal" if you have any FPS experience) or expert, and especially in versus produces many genuine moments of peril. There is also a survival type mode. Sounds to me like to play through a couple campaigns on normal and thought you were awesome. Play versus against decent, organized opponents or an expert campaign and you will get your ass kicked so fast you'll be struggling to figure out what happened. |
