Sony Scotches Gran Turismo 5 UK Release Date Rumour

Rumour had it that GT5 is to release in time for the Tokyo Game Show; in fact we were going to see it on September 25th.

So, we asked Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. SCEE told SPOnG that "There's no validity to that story. We haven't announced a release date for GT5 at this time."

PlayStation focused website PS Beyond originally sparked the rumour, citing an "extremely reliable" tip-off from "a Sony official". It seems interesting that a UK release date would be scheduled around a Japanese exposition, but it is worth considering that Europe is the region most anticipating the latest in Polyphony Digital's driving simulator.

Thank God, I have my UKCAT on sep 27th, if GT5 came out 2 days before it I'd fail to get into any med school!

exactly, who actually thought this would come out in september..? 

PD clearly said that GT5 comes out shortly after GTPSP which comes out in october

This...  Anyone that knows anything about marketing knows there has to be at least 2-3 months to promote a game this big.

Kazunori Yamauchi destroyed the rumor a week before it was reported on when he explicitly stated that GT5 would release after GTPSP.
