You're looking at the end result in a vacuum, instead of examining why that result occurred. That's poor history.

There is no Japanese or European data for PS1.

 I think its a tad early to say but yes if the PS3 doesn´t get a really big (and lasting) boost from the 40gig that continues into the next year till the bigger games arrive then it will stay 3rd... it needs to start outselling the 360 constantly and by quite something during next years springtime.

Rolstoppable said the PS3 sold 8M in 18months, not 18M in 1 year. I also thought the PS1 started slowly and then sought of just exploded.

anyway i think the PS3 will outsell the 360 with ease this gen, mainly because of Japan and Europe but also America, everybody says this is xbox's strongest market which it is, but the PS2 still outsold the original xbox about 3 to 1. this gen America will be about even but I would still give a slight edge to the PS3. I think wii will be a clear winner, not as clear as last gen though.

Soriku, thank you for proving what I said, history can indead repeat itself, what I actually said was that history doesnt PROVE anything about the future, it just gives a vague clue about what might happen.

The main series of Final Fantasy goes to the winning console because it has sold more.

SE put it on the PS3 and it might get ported.

Also they were too far into development to cancel it.

Forgot an important point.

They put it on PS3 because of PS2's success and thought PS3 would be the same.
