Again, you are not reading what they are writing.  It's like some people are just so eager to hate anything Microsoft/Windows because it's cool that they just don't pay attention.

They are not saying that no software exists for iPod support, they are saying that there is more software for iPod support on Windows. That is what they are saying.

As for WoW, go ahead and link to the tutorial that you wrote. The fact you had to write a tutorial on how to install a program tells me that I'm right-- installing WoW isn't intuitive.

That is what they mean on the games point-- you don't just insert the disc and press go.

And am I supposed to believe that because your one set of drivers works for your Ubuntu setup works flawlessly and your one set of drivers on Windows doesn't means that is the case for everybody?

I forgot that your one example is enough of a random sampling to constitute everybody.

Unconditional Microsoft love seems as much a vice as unconditional Microsoft hate. It would be one thing to chalk this up to marketing propoganda as usual, but that's not what you are doing.

Please explain to me the way in which linux's mp3 support is limited.

Thought this was funny .

Okay so this one isn't so bad.

Okay so here's where it starts getting bad.

No iPod support? Really? And the Zune doesn't work on the Mac either although there has been some progress from the Linux community. And I've never had any problems pulling pictures from cameras.

I've yet to see a printer that doesn't have a driver. You might have to download it from the products website though (gasp!).

How many new computer owners want to/know to do that? The only people that need a list like this are those who aren't very knowledgable, MS isn't hoping to convert staunch Linux fans with this.

Yeah yeah. Software. Although WINE has been vastly improving lately (we even got around that stupid Secu-ROM).

A valid point, and probably Linux' biggest drawback.

There are free alternatives to all of the Windows Live "essentials".

Granted.

WOW. Of all the games to mention, they mention World of Warcraft. I wrote a tutorial on how to get WoW running on Linux not to long ago. Its probably the easiest game to set up with in WINE.

How many people want to need to find a tutorial to get a game running? certainly not most people who don't know enough about computers to be relying on these ads to choose an OS. The fact is, unless you have a specific reason to want Linux, there's plenty of hassles to be avoided by going with an OS where the products work out of the box with it.

Authorized support? Well you have Red Hat and Canonical, oh I guess you can count Novell...

Video chat with Pidgin? Or Skype?
The ad said *all* major IM networks. "oh yeah, but this supports SOME major IM networks!!" is hardly a counter-point.

I tried to post, but vgchartz didn't display any of my text in the quote.  Screw it.

Actually, I haven't shown any MS love in any of my posts, I'm just pointing out how either the OP (and I assume you agree with it since you just blindly copied and pasted and then didn't say anything else) doesn't understand what is written or didn't read was is written.

I actually saw this on Engadget orginally and had a read through. I just thought it was funny that Microsoft felt the need to even bother explaining the drawbacks of Linux (especially when its relatively inaccurate) when they have such a huge marketshare. I only have a little experience with Linux and I actually prefer to use Windows as its what I know, but at the end of the day this still boils down to the usual coporate propaganda.

Linux doesn't support every MP3 player.

That should be obvious.  It was obvious as soon as i read it... everything on there is actually true.
