This is the same industrywide anti-Wii bias we've been seeing since late 2006. Why are you surprised anymore when they grasp at straws and pull out arbitrary penalties?
No reviewer has gotten out of this unscathed, and frankly, all of them should be fired. Every last one of them has betrayed the trust that the gaming public has placed in them, and all for their own graphics-are-everything agenda. Replace them all with people who can actually be trusted, and maybe the industry will be worth something again. But no sooner, and not as long as a single one of this band of liars still stands. They are guilty of gross malfeasance, and should be treated as such.
Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

Unless there is something on the system that actually cripples the enjoyment, and I mean Virtual Boy induced headaches, not just "I don't like waggle", you review the game as it is, not a game on a system. And I'm wondering now the converse is true, giving games better scores because they are on the 360 or PS3. |
I dunno if you can compare the two.
Imagine if you were a movie reviewer. Movies have always been the same, and therefore it was easy to find a balance. Then 3d films became super popular, and were usually more popular for their popping in and out and skipped storyline for the most part. If you, as a movie reviewer were now made to review a lot of these movies as well, how would that work out for you.
My point is, a new reviewer might give higher scores to the HD guys, but an old reviewer has been around those kinds of games for ages. The same games that are on the HD twins are mostly upgraded or new visions of past games and gaming standards. It's debatable. I think, the movie reviewer will just be getting a headache and start to feel contempt for the genre itself, rather than being a huge fan nerd of other, more standard genres.
sorry if that was a little metaphorical.

I don't think it's an issue of a game getting a better score than it should on PS360, but those (and PC), are the platforms where reviewers are most likely to score a game what it deserves, and not go crazy with some sort of bias as will occur for PSP, Wii, and DS reviews.

Hmm no that would be 'For you an insult for ME a fact'. It just annoys me that people get mad for the same thing over and over again. I am not long on VG still I saw many threads about 'Reviewer says this about the Wii how is it possible' and we get threads of ten pages long full with mad posts about the review..... I thought people at this point just will let it slip.
But yeah I probably deserve to be reported I should have said it not like that. |
No idea how it can be a fact for you that there are no good games. It's one of those classic things that there ARE good games that you would enjoy, you've just not played them.
Yes.
www.spacemag.org - contribute your stuff... satire, comics, ideas, debate, stupidy stupid etc.
at least the reviewer was so openly anti-wii that anyone thinking about buying the game in question would know instantly to dismiss the reviewer's opinions?
and RE: the fact/opinion debate - someone's fact that may not be true but is true to them is a TRUTH, not fact. truth and fact are very different, but easily confused.
The strange anti-Wii bias by some reviewers is all down to the 'inner geek/nerd' in them. The Wii has broken barriers and encouraged 'normal' people to play video games rather than geeks/nerds such as myself, and possibly yourselves. It's kind of an invasion of privacy that some of them feel imo.
Wii games are usually given lower scores because of this insecurity that some 'hardcore' gamers feel. I personally don't like the terms 'hardcore' and 'casual', in my book a gamer is a gamer is a gamer.
I think The Conduit has suffered particularly badly for this reason - thunderbolt gave it 3/10, which puts it on a par with the likes of Ninjabread Man and Anubis!!?!!?? Any score less than 7/10 is ridiculous for a game that has visual effects that you'd normally associate with the PS360 consoles, a great control scheme, a customisation of controls at a depth never seen before on a console game as well as an addictive online multiplayer game. 3/10 lol, it's daft!
