I think 3 is my favorite, but make sure that you do not miss out on playing through 1 and 2.

Also, this may be the only message board I've seen where MP3 doesn't send the fans into a rage...

What do you mean? That MP3 is hated on everywhere else?

If that's the case, then it's probably more of a "I hate the Wii and what Nintendo has done" thing where people see "casualization" in all games.

Yeah, that's basically the case. They "made it too easy" by taking out some of the unnecessary backtracking. And people go on and on about the hint system, as though it didn't exist in the first two.

Basically any other place I go on the web that is Prime related is full of non-stop MP3 hate, so it's nice to see some love here.

Corruption lost something of the first Prime's essential Metroidness, that sense of loneliness and striking out into directions unknown, of finding an environment that should not have been as passable as it was, a sense of wrongness in its construction...

But it was still wonderful, and very fun.

Except for the final boss fight. That was a little bit of a train wreck.

I don't really feel that way about the sense of isolation. In my opinion having the first hour or so start with tons of people, only to watch them all die or become taken over by Dark Samus helps to further the sense of isolation.

Frankly I thought it was great they finally had sections of the game where there was somebody other than Samus. I mean, you'd think that in some of her many adventures she'd run into somebody at some point and time. ;) Plus, seeing her swoop in to save federation soldiers just adds to her levels of awesome.

Let's see how should i Say this.

Prime 1 was more "metroid" than prime 3, I guess only people;e who have played the earlier games know what i'm talking about.

Prime 3 went for more action, more linear approach but still maintained the feel of the Prime series.

Can't go wrong with any IMO.

Prime felt like the evolution of the Metroid series, Corruption felt like the evolution of the Prime subseries.

I like Prime 3 better because it feels like I know what I'm doing and I get to talk to people instead of exploring alone in Prime. I like the action in Prime 3 better than the lonliness of Prime but I haven't played much of either so I shouldn't say much.

That is an excellent way of putting it.

I like MP best because it was set on the same planet as Super Metroid.  It appeals mainly to the old school crowd who played Super Metroid, as it is like a 3d re-enactment of the world.  Plus, back then, it was a unique twist to the FPS genre (hence many people calling it an FPA).

MP2 was the least remarkable game in the trilogy.  It build upon what MP did, but the world was much less varied and interesting than MP.  Also, A large portion of the game was spent in the dark world, which looks all alike.

MP3 was the best refined metroid prime because it built off of what the previous two did.  Also, the last boss fight is one of the most epic I've seen outside of Final Fantasy VI.

I wrestle with this comparison all the time. I loved the first one. But the first time I played Corruption it was and remains my favorite single player Wii game thus far.

It is hard to top playing Metroid in 3-d for the first time, but Prime 3 is such a polished game, from start to finish, it is excellent.

I usually say tied, but for the case of the thread, and in my heart of hearts, I liked Prime 3 best.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

That's pretty much how I feel.

BTW- if any of you want to exchange friend vouchers let me know. I've only beaten MP1 so far, so I don't know how many I will have when I add you, but I'd love to swap some.

I am sorry to burst your bubble, but MP took place on Tallon IV, not Zebes.

I was about to go get some sources to prove you wrong, but in the process proved you right.

It doesn't make much sense.  MP has many of the same locations as Super Metroid including Magmoor Caverns and the overworld [called Talon overworld in MP.  Obviously wouldn't be called that in Super Metroid]

I guess I played through MP and accidentally assumed it takes place on Zebes before Samus blows it up in Super Metroid.  It makes sense: MP happens before Super Metroid, The environments look the same, and there is no good reason not to tie the two together.
