Prime felt like the evolution of the Metroid series, Corruption felt like the evolution of the Prime subseries.

That is an excellent way of putting it.

I like MP best because it was set on the same planet as Super Metroid.  It appeals mainly to the old school crowd who played Super Metroid, as it is like a 3d re-enactment of the world.  Plus, back then, it was a unique twist to the FPS genre (hence many people calling it an FPA).

MP2 was the least remarkable game in the trilogy.  It build upon what MP did, but the world was much less varied and interesting than MP.  Also, A large portion of the game was spent in the dark world, which looks all alike.

MP3 was the best refined metroid prime because it built off of what the previous two did.  Also, the last boss fight is one of the most epic I've seen outside of Final Fantasy VI.

I am sorry to burst your bubble, but MP took place on Tallon IV, not Zebes.

I was about to go get some sources to prove you wrong, but in the process proved you right.

It doesn't make much sense.  MP has many of the same locations as Super Metroid including Magmoor Caverns and the overworld [called Talon overworld in MP.  Obviously wouldn't be called that in Super Metroid]

I guess I played through MP and accidentally assumed it takes place on Zebes before Samus blows it up in Super Metroid.  It makes sense: MP happens before Super Metroid, The environments look the same, and there is no good reason not to tie the two together.
