360 will probably win this generation as far as RPG games are concerned, but it is still far far behind the SNES, PS1, PS2, and DS (if you count hand helds)

I dont think Xbox will win RPG's this gen at all. There's actually more upcoming Japanese RPG's on PS3 than Xbox and TGS should be revealing. It's Western style RPG's where the Xbox is ahead at the moment. And lots of the RPG's Xbox had are now multi-platform like Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean.

Yeah if you live in Japan. As of right now there is no word on the PS3 version beign localized outside Japan.

Star Ocean:TLH is not on anything but Xbox 360. What have you been smoking son!?

AS for OP I do agree that Xbox 360 is a beast when it comes to RPG titles this gen.

Star Ocean will get announced for PS3 at TGS. I say again the PS3 has more upcoming exclusive RPG's than Xbox.

Like what?...New that is...other than FF13...

You mean Versus? FF13 is multiplat.

Is this a joke?

Things are relatively weak from the WRPG side, but there are roughly 10 or so upcoming JRPGs.

Most JRPGs lack crossover appeal in sales...so yes...it will do well in Japan...but.

Also, are all 10 exclusives?

Actually the PS3 will have easily surpassed the 360 in the JRPG catergory by mid 2010. Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, Demon Souls already match the 360's JRPG line up in the west. Add to that, The Last Rebellion, White Knight Chronicles, Trinity Universe and Tales of Vesperia and the 360 is left in the dust. The only notable 360 JRPG exclusive will be LO.

360 is best for the WRPG fans (ignoring PC).

yes WILL WILL we understand that not all 360 fans are shit for brains but if I wanted to go out and play a f%@#ing JRPG NOW than how is it not true that Xbox 360 owns as of now? This isn't all directed at you Tombi but at all the people here in general that have this insane idea that  TO BE RELEASED GAMES are ALREADY RELEASED. Is it really that painful to fans to just suck it up and say yes FOR TODAY and TOMMOROW until ToV, WKC, ect are released that Xbox 360 owns the RPG lineup? Is it not true either?

1) I said that if you only counted already released JRPG's, the 360 and PS3 are pretty much even. 360 has more but a lot of them disappointed. Both 360 and PS3 have 2 or 3 highly rated JRPG's already out. 360 has Tales of Vesperia, LO and Blue Dragon. PS3 has Valkyria Chronicles, Demon Souls and Disgaea 3.

2) Read the thread title and OP. This thread is about the LINE UPS, meaning already released and soon to be released. Hence why the OP mentions Mass Effect 2, Risen etc. So the PS3 JRPG line up does "own" the 360 JRPG line up. The only notable exclusives will be LO, Blue Dragon and MC2. Where as the PS3 will have VC, DS, Disgaea 3, WKC, FFVXIII (not coming for along time), The Last Rebellion and many more.

Dude,
the fact that the PS3 RPG line up matches 360's in numbers, doesn't say ABSOLUTELY anything.

Mass Effect 2...

Mass Effect 2...

Was this directed at me? I was only talking about JRPG's... I even said 360 is better for WRPG's.

Yeah. The number thing goes to you. Not the ME2 though.

Mass Effect 2 will be magnificent, no doubt. Fable 3 will be good as well. Those two are the only ones of any true significance to me on that list. Many of them are multiplat and/or exspansion packs(What is with this trend of treating exp packs as whole new games?).

Greatness Awaits

PSN:Forevercloud (looking for Soul Sacrifice Partners!!!)

Admittedly the PS3 is starting to catch up in terms of JRPG's. But it is highly unlikely to have anything resembling a quality lead in any meaningful way. All that could change that is perhaps Kingdom Hearts 3 going exclusive.

But in terms of WRPG's the PS3 is getting absolutely OWNED!!!
