Project Offset is now officially 360 bound

Posted in Screens, Games, Xbox 360 by Zan Toplisek on October 13th, 2007 at 22:45

"A century must’ve passed since we last heard from Offset Software about their up-and-coming fantasy shooter Project Offset (working title), as they have no doubt been working away long hours in those underground chambers. Although hard work continues, the developer has decided to update their official site with new game info, screens, and a bunch of other stuff, along with confirming that Project Offset is indeed in development for the Xbox 360.

Project Offset promises to offer a unique shooter experience, one that seamlessly combines “the control scheme and frenetic pace of a FPS, like Halo” and a “hybrid” combat system that involves hectic projectile combat and a well thought-out melee fighting system.

Features:

  • An engaging single player adventure, experienced through the perspectives of multiple heroes from two warring factions and an extensive online component to continue the war alongside or against other players
  • Two ferocious armies, composed of culturally diverse races and classes, providing unique play experiences with different abilities, weaponry and tactics
  • Ridable war beasts such as Siege Trolls, ferocious Lizards and charging Battle Boars
  • Objective-based multiplayer combat that focuses on capturing, constructing and destroying key points throughout the battlefield as well additional game modes to extend the mayhem
  • Breathtaking visuals powered by the bleeding edge technology of the Offset Engine; Life-like characters and environments, brilliant lighting effects, rock-solid network code and physics."

Awesome. Was hoping for that to happen. Strange though that they haven't named the game yet (Project Offset is a working title). Perhaps not much hope for a 2008 release?

old.. it was demoed for PC PS3 and 360 in 2005

How is it old if the article was posted on the 10/13/07?  Are you just trying to be a jerk or did you forget that when it first started hitting peoples radar they were still looking for a publisher for whatever system would have them.

I don't think it's going to PS3, not because the system couldn't handle it but because they're using their own engine and don't have the resources to convert it to PS3 right now (at least that's what it looks like).

Actually the publisher is still unannounced y they did find one.. its either BioWare (EA new) or Blizzard. I forget which the guy from Offset said.

The game was not demoed, the engine was demoed. Check your facts.

No where on the project offset website is there anything that says they have confirmed it for the 360. There is a listing in their jobs section that points out they are looking for a person who codes for the 360, which makes it sound like the author of this article took it as gospel.

It's in the FAQ.
