Is it the last hope for winning this generation? No. That was long ago. Sony might be able to beat Microsoft for second place, but first is beyond their grasp.
Is it the last hope for the Playstation Franchise? Maybe. If Sony continues to lose money, and it looks like next generation is going to be just as bad, they may not make a PS4.
Is it the last hope for Sony? Hell no. They have enough money to drop the franchise without suffering too badly.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Going through this thread just reminded me why I stopped posting here.

PS3 Slim may NOT be Sony's last hope. Don't forget Sony stated they're expecting to keep the PS3 as a player for a long term.
Even if the sales upsets Sony fanboys (which is not currently the case), PS3 is being given a life shot to outlast 360 and Wii.

Last hope for PS? May be, but there is reasonable doubt about this.
Last hope for Sony? No way. Sony can survive for long enough without PSs one it's list.

By the way, I'm an X360 fan. But I like to be real when data shows trends and not to be biased, as trolling has become pretty boring for me.

I was talking mostly about this generation of consoles. I like Sony, but not the fanboys lol, anyways I feel that if the slim fails dramatically that it won't look very promising for the PS3. Not sure about the playstation as a whole as there is always some other ones and well Sony like mentioned is not only about gaming. I guess will see how things goes.

My favorite games for this gen:

1. Gears of War 2. MGS4 3. Killzone 2 4. Halo 3(Underated by many) 5. Mass Effect
