I would like all 3 systems to be main consoles for their brands for the next 4 years... over 4 years would also be very nice...

Assuming you try to do something nuts like create an entirely new platform that bears no resemblance to the previous generation... wait... that's what they did this gen...

Outlast (in years) as the main Sony offering -- yes.
Outsell (in units) as the main Sony offering -- doubtful because it is still 100M-110M behind.

I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |
They'll probably want to stretch out the life cycle of this console as much as possible. It'll take a while for them to make up all the money they lost
only 100m more consoles to go. It just doesn't seem likely though.
Soo much hope, but still all hope will be crushed after a month of sales lol lol lol.
My favorite games for this gen:
1. Gears of War 2. MGS4 3. Killzone 2 4. Halo 3(Underated by many) 5. Mass Effect
| Dno said: this of course will happen. If anyone thinks Sony or M$ will make another system anytime soon your wrong. And if nintendo makes one it will be a little weaker then the ps3. Nintendo will never use specs that drive the cost of the system higher then 250-300 bucks. Sony and M$ do not need to update for at least another 7 years because of this. They just need casual games and people will come. also the hardcore will always stay for sonys and M$ 1st party offerings so software sales will only go up as hardware prices go down and install bases go up. Sony and M$ has lost to much money to start a new gen and software sales have not started to even make up for the loss of money both companies have taken. |
This post makes absolutely no technical sense, at all.
AMD are already talking about more than two terraflops of performance for their HD 58xx series chips to be launched in less than a month. I don't feel like doing the maths and showing you how many orders of magnitude the performance will likely to be in four years from now greater than the RSX and XENOS chips combined and thats within an expected 50-75W thermal allowance.
All three systems have yet to hit their peaks, we'll see games that make the first generation titles look stale and primative. I say, "why the rush?"
Sony says, "The next generation doesn't start until we say it does." Well, we saw how that worked out for them with PS3, didn't we? If MS and Ninty release a new system, Sony will scramble to keep up. I don't see that happening, though, for 2 years or so.
The market and competition will dictate the next generation.

IF they use Cell or Blu-Ray in the next console, that WILL still be recouping, then profiting off of, the money they spent initially.
Blu-Ray sales -- players and disc -- are also contributing to this.
