I think the biggest problem with the list is that they made it the top 25!!!!1!!!!

It's not even an issue of context, it's an issue of factual accuracy. If you want to leave, you're going to have to take your foot out of your mouth.

It would be interesting to know on what basis IGN rated these consoles.

Sometimes it appears that game library is king. Other times it is innovation.

Also, since it is on the American IGN site, is it American-centric or is it American/European-based? (It certainly does not appear to take into account the Japanese experience, which is very different than the Western experience.).

Finally, the list seems to be targeted to the typical IGN reader. For him (masculine pronoun use here is intentional and indicative of who I feel is being targeted), the SNES-Genesis playground wars were classic, the NES may have been their first console, and the PS2 was probably what they played the heck out of last generation (because everyone did). It is amazing that IGN on this list would actually pay respect to the grand-daddy of them all -- the Atari 2600.

anyway, I said it before the list is screwy as there doesn't seem to be any reason for the structure

some of the write ups are largely negative, the atari 7800, the tg-16 and the colecovision, yet they rank higher than the positive write ups of the saturn, neo geo , and master system

I agree that they should have done some sort of write up on what they based their rankings on

Did you check my response to Khuutra? I was only kidding when I said this is a discussion about fact! This is a purly oppinionated topic.

But I don't need to take a poll consensus. If you ACTUALLY believe that most gamers would choose 360 over PS1, then there is NO WAY of convincing you otherwise (keeping sales out of this). Just look at all the 360 fans who agree with me on this topic and you will see what I mean.
