Forums - Nintendo - Why do more Wii FPSs not have local multi-player?!

The higher the graphics the less trivial it becomes to do local multiplayer. Hell devs probably love the fact that online MP is much bigger issue now than local MP. Though honestly why people would want to play split screen instead of online is beyond me, I hate how small the screen gets. They should just make sure all these games have a friends only option for online so you can 'almost' do local MP but still need two screens and two consoles.

To play games with our friends in the same room without having to carry our PC's over and LAN.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Meh, personally, I don't care about local multiplayer if it's splitscreen. I freaking hate splitscreen, I find it hard to tolerate in games like Mario Kart, but in FPS games it's even worse. But that's just me.

Lol then i'm probably a minority on that front. My best gaming experiences are online MP with my friends like 8 hours straight from 10pm to 6am. I think unfortunately for those who aren't like me, its way too easy for management to cut out local MP in favor of all the other things that go into development.

A warrior keeps death on the mind from the moment of their first breath to the moment of their last.

Yeah it is annoying. When I buy a FPS I expect multiplayer, not just in online connection either. I miss games like Time Splitters 2

Most of Ps3 fps:s I have played dosent have split screen option..(Only cod 4 and Resistanc2)
I remember playing Red Factions so many hours with friends on split scree...So fun!

Take my love, take my land..

It's disappointing. I have some of my best multiplayer fun with friends connected on an ethernet cable.

Yeah aren't that many for general this gen, I believe one of the selling points for MW Wii is drop-in co-op...=/

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

Yeah, while online is great, you're definitely in the minority.  I love playing on Live, especially Gears and Halo, and it's a great experience, but I'd take a local multiplayer match in those games over online any day.  Have you noticed that all the additions and tweaks Microsoft makes are to make it feel more like you're playing in the same room, on the same system?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

The Wii isn't as powerful as N64, split screen multiplayer is technically impossible on wii hardware.

But i thought everyone knew that...

You're not the only one, this bothers me too.
