Forums - Nintendo - I feel let down by Nintendo

If you were disappointed in Nintendo's games, why do you only play first party games? There's plenty of third party games to play.

Would you like some cheese with that whine? I found Metroid, Zelda: TP, Pokemon, and others very good, top-notch.

It's fine if you didn't like the games, but they're pretty much on par with previous Nintendo offerings...and in more numbers...you didn't always get a Paper Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon, and Mario game in the same year...

I don't know whether Metroid is good or not - I live in the UK.

I've never enjoyed Zelda, so TP was better than expected I admit.

I know about the all-in-one-year thing, but they made me expect it and it's not really true anyway.

You live in the PAL regions. Until more developers wake up to the importance of them (or until HD standards make localization easier), you're going to be disappointed.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

"You are whining about Zelda, despite admitting you never liked Zelda and then later admitting this even pleasantly surprised you."

I just mentioned Zelda because someone would have said I left it out. It was better than expected, i.e. I didn't reach the first dungeon.

"You are complaining about Metroid Prime 3 being linear and just like other FPSes without even playing it. It's not. I hate people who listen to stupid review sites and judge games they know nothing about."

So it is a Metroid-Prime-worthy game? All the review sites agreed it was made linear and easier. Were they all lying or something?

"You complain about Pokemon not changing despite DP being the biggest change to the formula ever. Adding a lot of strategic elements to the game and online play/trading. If you think DP is as simple as red and blue please come battle me. I'll show you just how simple it is."

What elements? I have four moves. I pick one. Basic stats determine how much HP is lost. Repeat for six pokemon. That didn't change, and I didn't expect it to. I meant changing the Rival + Evil Team takes over world + Eight Gyms + Elite Four + HMs system. It was exactly the same. Even the graphics didn't use the special features of the DS: Touch and true 3D.

"You claim to be a long time Nintendo fan and yet are surprised by delays, which are common practice for Nintendo in order to perfect big games. You also then claim you loved your other Nintendo systems including the GC. It wouldn't make much sense to like the GC and not the Wii considering in the first 2 years the Wii will have released sequels to every big game on the GC."

I was 6 when I first tried games consoles. I didn't have a sense of time then. I appericiate the sequels, but the wording in press releases, interviews and editorials before Wii launch made them sound like Q4 2006 or Q1 2007 at the latest for all of the Big Four. They delivered: Zelda. Well, great for the Zelda fans.

"Then you ask what's next despite Nintendo having announced many games in production that you didn't list such as Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Kirby, F-Zero, Disaster, and Star Fox. Not to mention complaining about lack of games but refusing to play anything 3rd party...."

They haven't announced most of them (Pikmin no, F-Zero no, Diasaster isn't a first-party), and Power Paintbrush I already had. Star Fox was also a disappointment - it wasn't Star Fox.

Refusing? I really do not like them, and I have tried every kind of realistic shooter, racer, sport game on other people's consoles.

"That summarzie this topic pretty well? You have the right to your opinion, but those points don't make much sense."

That doesn't change my feelings of disappointment. Sorry.

Translation: "It doesn't matter if you're right, I'm still dissapointed."

Well that's fair enough.

Show me the review sites that said Metroid Prime 3 isn't not only a worthy sequel, but perhaps the best of the Metroid Primes? I think you read some strange reviews.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

@GGE

no, it's called showing your blatant fanboyism, n pretending your funny

I'm pretty sure you just stated that all PS3 owners show their blatant fanboyism and pretend they are funny instead of what you actually meant to say... directing that at GGE.

It'd be the same in this case

Aaron Rowand making a catch by diving into a wall.

Guy 1 "Boy what Aaron Rowand did was stupid."

Guy 2 "No it's called being a team player."

He's not calling guy 1 a team player, he's calling rowand the team player.

Even if you meant to direct it at Kber it targets all the PS3 owners.

OK then, I'm buying the game when it comes out. 8.5 on Gamespot though...

Gamespot gave Bioshock a 9.0... the same as Perfect Dark Zero....

8.5 on Gamespot...oh teh noes!@

That's probably one of the lowest scores. Do you really depend on reviews that much?

I think you should pull your head up and look at the good games all around you...Nintendo is not the only game developer out there...even if they're one of the best.

I know where your coming from, but I'll say this

Twilight Princes was a great game. Sure, it wasn't worth playing a 2nd time, but was a great Zelda game
Pokemon has always been the same.

I have found some of Nintendo's current endeavors to be too different. MP3 was good, but it was too easy in terms of collection and Phantom Hourglass is "eh" for me (hoping it gets better).

This is just how Nintendo is I guess. I found Mario Strikers Charged to be amazingly fun, and I didn't think that would have been the case. Nintendo makes quality still, it's just now it's in a different way. I've enjoyed their games, but I find some of the new ones are not my taste. Be I'm bored with them, their different or my taste are changing. Hype may be part of the reason. I say just look for some B titles from them. You'd be surprised how much fun they are.

So it is a Metroid-Prime-worthy game? All the review sites agreed it was made linear and easier. Were they all lying or something?

All the review sites? Show me any that said it was too linear.the only one I than think of that said anything close was gamespot, and in the same review they contradicted that claiming "They didn't change much from the Prime formula." IGN and Gametrailers call it the best in the Prime series both hammering home many times that it had all the great prime elements like backtracking and exploration.

Yes, that's all there is to Pokemon. It's not like there are IVs, EVs, breeding, abilities, equipped items, egg moves, combination moves like Baton Pass, 17 types, STAB bonuses, dual types, and weaknesses. Those are just a few of the gameplay elements that have changed. Compared to Red and Blue in which there were 15 types, no dual types, only 1 attack stat, and weaknesses. Of course the plot didn't change. The game has to be accessible to kids.

If you think the strategy isn't deep though again I suggest you play online. If you refuse to play online that's your shortcomming not the game's. The graphics were 2D in battle only, but I would much rather have detailed 2D sprites than ugly 3D ones. You used touch screen to select moves. It's a turn based RPG. Of course you aren't going to start slashing at the other Pokemon with the stylus....

If you thought anything was going to be realeased in Q4 2006 or Q1 2007 you obviously hadn't read news within a year of the Wii's launch. They have announced Pikmin. They stated it's in production at E3 this year. F-Zero hasn't been, but a new F-Zero is released every generation. Same with Star Fox. You asked "what else is there?" I told you. I forgot Donkey Kong anyway, which I would bet you will show up as well. Kirby has an official Wii sequel announced, and all of those games will be on the Wii within the next couple years, including a true Star Fox. Not to mention Fire Emblem and the many Mario Sports games.

Disaster is Nintendo second party. It's made by Monolith who is owned my Nintendo. Smash Bros. was made by Hal who is owned by Nintendo, Metroid by Retro, Pokemon by Game Freak, Donkey Kong used to be Rare, etc. If you refuse to accept Nintendo second party then you obviously don't play many Nintendo games at all, and you should never ever buy a Nintendo system.

As I said you have the right to your opinion but it's not well supported by your statements and doesn't make much sense. Again, if you dislike all these Nintendo games like Pokemon and such I don't see why you ever played Nintendo systems in the first place.
