untold legend is the only one of those that is first party.
just wondering if there will ever be a first party lunar final fantsy fable ish type rpg from sony or one of their first party studios.
edit: talking about THIS generation on the playstation 3. sorry >..>
no its not.....all of those are first party SONY owns them..???? im lost at wat your asking?..do you mean you want SONY themselves to develop it??

Even so, sony should have a first party developer for every major genre i think, considering 3rd party exclusives are becoming a thing of the past and i think they'll continue to dwindle over time. |
I'm sure they're working on it. Sony has always tried to improve their first parties in any areas where they may be weak. Last gen they tackled shooters after stiff competition from MS, and now they actually have a few too many shooters in development, which is why Eight Days was canceled. They ended up overcompensating. Now that they've lost the support of Square, JRPGs are the next logical ste;.
You have to figure, they've already got Gran Turismo at the forefront of the racing sim genre, God of War headlining hack n' slash, Killzone 2 up there with some of the best shooters, MAG pushing limits on player counts, Uncharted making Tomb Raider look bad, Wipeout providing the *only* decent competition for F-Zero, MotorStorm up there with the best off-road racers, and the Ico titles standing out from other adventure titles. And now SOE is bringing MMOs and other goods to the ps3.
They've got most genres covered with some excellent titles, with the exception of platformers (seeing as Naughty Dog has abandoned the genre for now - unless you count Media Molecule, then you have a good platform with excellent multiplayer), Mario Kart-esque arcade racers, and all manner of JRPGs.
Throw second parties into the mix, and you get most of these genres covered, but their second party titles generally aren't up to the same standard as their internally developed stuff, with the exception of LittleBigPlanet and Ratchet & Clank.

I assume he means internally developed. All those IPs are owned by Sony, but only Alundra, the Legend of Dragoon, and Untold Legends are internally developed (and even then SOE usually act autonomously from SCEWWS, so that could be considered a separate entity as well).
And out of those three, Alundra was a Link to the Past clone on the ps1, an we haven't seen anything form the franchise since. We've also seen nothing from the Legend of Dragoon IP since the ps1 days, either.
Edit: My mistake. Alundra was devleoped by an independent studio called Matrix Contrail. The sequel was devloped by Contrail, the guys behind the Legend of Legaia.

These were developed by FIRST PARTY TEAMS
Legend of Dragoon
Popolo Crois [Forgot this on the other list]
Legend of Lagaia
All the other's were developed by second parties, but they still do own the franchises. Don't see why it would make a difference. Either way, SONY has pretty much full control on the project when it's being developed since it's their money.
4 ≈ One
well i kinda guessed that now, but i thinks hes alittle confused at wat a 1st party title is...SONY doesn't have to make it themselves to be considered 1st party

Untold legend - SoE first party
Legend of Dragoon - SCEI first party
Arc The LAd - Arc entertainment cant find any other info on them so most likely first party.
Wild Arms - media.vision - developed for xbox ds and wii not first party.
Alundra - matrix desgin - developed for ds and wii
Dark Cloud - level 5 - developes for the wii and ds.
Jeanne d'Arc - level 5 - see above
rogue galaxy - level 5 - see above
Legend of Lagaia - Contrail - first party no game on ps3 Rogue Galaxy
White Knight Chronicles - level 5 see above.
so out of all of those 2 are in this gen. 1 isent released yet, and nearly half are made by the same 3rd party studio level 5.

dude it does not matter WHO DEVELOPS the game as long as its a SONY OWNED IP it is 1st party..period, so by your knowledge Metroid: Other M is not a 1st party????
