How many times has your 360 experienced RROD? It has not happened. :)

How long did this occur after you purchased the unit(s)? Irrelevant.

When was the unit purchased (year/month)? Early December 2007.

Which 360 model was involved? Elite. 175 watt FALCON.

Did you watch DVD movies on your 360? How often? My family watches them often. About 9 times a month, (according to my family lol).

Did you watch streaming video on your 360? How often? Yes. I would say it all depends. During August I did watch it at least 3 times a week streamed. This month I did not watch anything yet.

How often did you play games on your 360? A lot. I do rip all my games to the HD though. Since my classes started again, I don't play anymore. But when on vacation I would play almost every day / every other day.

Was your 360 on a power strip? A UPS? Did you switch your 360 off by switching off the power strip/UPS? No power strip. It used to be though when I first purchased it. I turn it off by the controller and SOMETIMES I just press the button to turn it off. I always unplug the power brick after I'm done too.

If you had brown-outs, how frequent were they? Black-outs? Have you lost other electronic equipment due to power outages? Brown outs happened a few times this summer. Never lost anything to a power outage. Brown outs happened more in August than anything. My 360 did the flashing red rings then, but it did that due to the brown out. No problems otherwise. I'd say in the whole time I've had a 360, this has happened 3-4 times... but no permanent damage has resulted.... it just needed to be restarted :)

How many other electronic devices were plugged into the same wall circuit? None. There used to be about 5 on the monster power strip I owned though when it was originally plugged into there.

Was the 360 positioned vertically or horizontally? Horizontal. I always have it like that.

Was the 360 operated on the floor? If so, what kind of surface (carpet, wood, tile, etc.)? It is in my entertainment center, door open and well ventilated. Wood.

Was the 360 moved to other areas of the house on a regular basis? Was it transported to other homes? No. It was on a wood table for a few months in my room, but that's it. Now it's in my living room.

Was the environment the 360 operated in dusty? It can get a little dusty. I make sure to clean it though.

Did anyone smoke on a regular basis while the 360 was operating? Never.

Was the 360 operated on a shelf or in a cabinet? Is the shelf/cabinet enclosed (glass doors, etc.)? Which shelf was the 360 on? What other electronic devices shared the shelf unit/cabinet? It's in an entrainment center. I can close the glass door on it though, but obviously I don't do that. It's on the top shelf, but the power brick is at the bottom shelf. I also have a Nintendo Wii in there, but that's never powered on the same time as the 360.

Which of the following add-ons were attached? HD-DVD? WiFi? Hard Drive? Decorative face-plate? Decorative body-panels? Wifi, HD, Resident Evil faceplate and skin.

Was an add-on cooling unit attached? In-line with power supply? USB powered? I don't add that kind of thing on to my 360.

2 year old Elite, no RROD no E-74 no problems, always kept vertical raised slightly with home made stand so the bottom vent has plenty of room, no table fan aimed at it cause i think this actually hurts the 360.

2nd Elite bought last December, no RROD no E-74 no problems, always kept Vertical raised slightly with home made stand, no external fans.

as for the movies and streaming audio and other stuff i don't think it has anything to do with it. the gig was up not to long right out of the gate, confirmed by Microsoft, private reviewers and so on.the 360 just ran to hot and every correction they have made from adding and dropping DVD drives, chip sets and so on is all geared to reduce heat.

vertical or horizontal, if it makes a person feel better having it one way or another then fine but other than the IMO thread, I've seen no real valid studies showing one way is better than the other and i don't think Microsoft would have spent over a billion just because they didn't feel like saying sorry guys but maybe you should place it horizontal.

i don't use mine over 3 hours without giving it a break. i think popping a DVD back into its case without letting it cool off a little is what's causing disk cracking around the inner circle, i always let the 360 run for about 10 min after playing so the fans can cool the chips off some. i don't move the 360 when i turn it off while its still hot so not to jar the already over heated parts.

i don't use any table fans for cooling do to the fact i believe your only cooling outside plastic anyway, which in turn might (theoretically) insulate the outside case which in turn is like using a invisible barrier of cold air to hold the warm air in place which is just the opposite of what I'm trying to do.

Yep, i'm a girl

Well i didn't get the RROD after playing 4hour Cod4 sessions a day. But after playing GTA IV alot i got the RROD. I guess it was GTA IV.
