I feel even nerdier than normal asking you this highwaystar, but is your av a picture of Data with an emotion chip, or of Lore impersonating Data?

Yeah, I know you probably have no idea.

I don't have a clue to be honest.

I support traditional marriage, like in the bible.

Bring on the multiple wifes and sex slaves! Woohoo!

You're seriously comparing the Christian right to the jews in the holocaust?

Not the holocaust!! the discrimnation of the 30's.  Jews were economically and socially boycotted.  Just as prop 8 supporters are being boycotted.  This professors ideas are taking it further

How are prop 8 supporters being boycotted? Didn't prop 8 pass?

And he's comparing gays to nazi's. Which isn't far off, the two did have quite the connection. The nazi's even picked out that cute little pink triangle for the gays.

Dude, no one will take you seriously if you compare "the right to be yourself" with "the right to hate others"

actually, no one will take him seriously as long as he has that name. he can't expect people to listen to your opinion when his own user name shows he is baised. i wonder if i can get him banned by reporting his name makes me feel bad?? CommunistHater makes me feel like an unwanted minority, you know.

This is not about gays it is about people who do not tolerate religous beliefs.  Communists control religion that is why i hate them.  I hate anyone who does not tolerate religous beliefs.

If communism was a religion would you respect it?

Why should people arbitrarily respect things that do harm to others? I'm not saying All religion does harm to others, but if somebody wants to oppress in the name of religion, they can't turn around and demand that you respect their right to oppress others because it's religiously motivated. Should we respect the rights of the KKK to put burning crosses in the front yards of black people? I mean they are doing it for religious reasons, they can show you scriptures. You may not agree with their scriptures, but I'm sure there are plenty of people disagreeing with the christian right's interpretation of scripture too. But hell, if it's religion it MUST be respected, right?

Mafoo has the right idea, and it's not a new one. People have been saying this for some time now. The easiest way to solve this is to have the government stop getting involved in "Marriage". That way the christians that have their panties in a wad about gays getting "married" can go fuck off, which is stupid to begin with. Christians didn't invent marriage and if they did why aren't their any christian groups complaining about muslims, hindus, atheists, and satanists getting "Married"? Aren't they all offensive to the christian god? There should only be civil unions as far as the government is concerned, and let people call the unions whatever the hell they want.

Also, it's not intolerance if a minority starts to question the massive majority that has all of the power, money and influence in the country, it's a revolt.

Well said Vagabond

They have every right to fight their culture war as they see fit, i think (and their foes do likewise). Especially since you never quite know if the Prop 8 supporters and their ilk are operating on true conviction, or are just bigots.

This is why I think marriage should be completely out of the legal system.

First off, this is never going to pass, and I am glad it won't. While I think same sex couples should have all the same legal rights everyone else, I also think it's crazy to expect a church to be for it.

It's like expecting a hindu temples to serve hambergers. it goes against what they believe.

The solution, is to make it a moot point, and to make everyone recognized as a civil union with respect to the law. Two people, for any reason, should legally be able to form this bond. I know a woman who is in her 40's, and lives wit her mother. She will until the day her mother dies and has no intentions of being in a relationship. She should be allowed to have a civil union with her mother.

Same goes for two people who are roommates, but not in a relationship.

Government needs to stay out of peoples personal lives,.

I more or less agree with this. I believe that marriage is a religious thing and is literally defined as union between man and woman. If homosexual couples want to get the same tax benefits as a married couple (which I think is the only reason they'd want it) then so be it. I don't really care about that.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

@outlaw

I believe that marriage is a cultural thing because natives tribes
who are without a religion still get married, and they've never even heard of religion.

Good I hope they do, I don't want to help any anti gay people. Let them get hit harder by the recession for their ignorance.

Reminds me of this shop down town called "J Source" (I know right ...) it sells books and stationary and it's constantly empty
