Darnit.. Im afraid if I send it to repairs I will get a refurbished model and lose my BATMAN GAME, I honestly dont care about the saves, I can easily make that up.

Get it fixed man. 60 gig are precious now.

End of 2011 Sales: Wii = 90mil, 360 = 61mil, PS3= 60mil

Its all a part of Sonys plan to retroactively removing backwards compatibility.

In my case (UK) Sony returned my trapped disk separately by mail. I'd hope Sony in US would do the same.

I don't know how far past warranty it is, but I'd always suggest a gentle argument for a free fix - at least in UK I know this can sometimes get results.

When I had YLOD Sony wanted me to pay, but when I called I said how surprised I was as I thought only 360 suffered such failures, not PS3 (sorry 360 fans, it wasn't personal, I'd have happily said the opposite in a reverse situation) there was an awkward silence after which the Sony helpline rep agreed to a free fix but noted any future issues would definitely be out of warranty.

If it's BC I'd try and get it fixed.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I know someone who bought a dead 60 GB PS3 and got it refurbished. He said he was waiting for the warranty to expire in order to open it and put some thermal paste called "arctic silver" in it. He said that would help with any overheating issues.. which is why they die.

Posted this in another thread recently exact same issue YLOD disc stuck inside.

It does not sound to promising for the PS3 but you might want to try this as mentioned in this thread.

do the Fan Test- cut the ps3 on and while its trying to come on hurry up and hold down the Ejected button down. if done right your fan will come on, while thats happing hit the ejected button again and the disc should come out.

If this does not work just try your best to make sure they realise a disc is stuck in the machine and if you are really luky and the tech guy is felling nice they might even send it back.

They mention also that the repair is likely $150 so you can almost certainly translate into pounds the theiving buggers that they are.

So, if Sony lose money selling him a PS3 Slim and he lose money buying a new Slim, where did the money go?

There's a conspiracy going on here!

It all goes to me.

KEEP ON BUYING SLIMS EVERYBODY!

Repair is $150.

Slim is $300.

I say get slim. You get a year warranty this way anyway.

yep, plus a dualshock 3.. but my dad isn't made out of money -_-

Dont you have a B/C PS3?

IMO fuck the slim, your PS3 owns it,broken or not.

Get it repaired.

Exactly.

Your 60GB will increase in value within one year, so just don't sell it yet.

Official price for the discontinued 60GB PS3 is 600€ here (~$850)
