Nintendo DS is a seventh Generation Portable and since the Nintendo DSi is getting exclusive games and its more powerful its no longer just a redesign, it's a new portable. So is it 8th gen???? And if thats the case shouldn't Dsi sales be different from DS sales on the home page. I guess this is kind of like Game Boy and Game Boy Color (there different systems but people put the sales and games together)

The DS is like the Gameboy.

The DS Lite is like the Gameboy Pocket.

The DSi is like the Gameboy Colour.

Remember this, and you should be in good shape.

I see i am not the only person who thinks DS/DSlite and DSi should be counted seperately.

Although i still think that DSi is counted in the 7th gen.

There's only been three/four generations of handhelds (unless you count really old, poor performing handhelds like the Microvision), depending whether you seperate Gameboy Color from Gameboy. If you don't, the DSi is still a third gen handheld. If you do, by the same standard you must call DSi a fifth gen handheld. It's definitely not fourth gen, either way.

uhm, PSP is still more powerfull than any DS model, so if DS is 8th gen, PSP is 9th gen

Generation by time/successors, not by processing power.
