Lost Odyssey should have been FFX-2

I really don't understand why Lost Odyssey continually gets picked on as being 'outdated' - it's like someone at IGN first said it then this stigma suddenly got attached to its' name, but every other turn-based gameplay RPG flies under the radar without being repeatedly harped on about as having 'old gameplay mechanics'. I personally hope we never see the death of 'turn-based' RPGs. If you like strategy or pokemon or puzzle quest etc. it's a great game.
@Fumanchu
I think it is different per person. Me for example, I love the old school turn based combat, it is still my favorite style, but it was the story that killed it for me. Kaim was so boring to me and once I hit disc 4 I just couldn't seem to stay entertained and just stopped.
I wish I completed it, but I can't see myself doing that all over again.

@Euphoria
huh?? the story is the best thing about LO and i really enjoyed it. Well to each his own i guess
@reaver_x
Each person is different indeed.
Look at me, I think SaGa Frontier is one of the most amazing games I have played due to the battle system.
LO's story didn't seem to slow to a crawl for you at disc 4?

You should play them in this order (IMO):
1. Lost Odyssey
2. Tales of Vesperia
3. Star Ocean: The Last Hope
4. The Last Remnant (if you can install on HDD)
5. Infinite Undiscovery
6. Blue Dragon
7. Eternal Sonata
8. Ninety-Nine Nights (it's not jRPG, but since you asked, i added it to the list)
9. Phantasy Star Universe
Haven't played Enchanted Arms or Magna Carta II yet. EA i'm not excited about, but I really want to play MCII.
It's interesting to see this love for the Last Remnant, the press was so negative on it. Is what you guys are saying is if I'm a huge JRPG lover, I should give it a whirl and damn the reviews?
The thing about "The Last Remnant" is that it is from the SaGa Team, which usually means you are going to get a battle system that kind of seperates itself from the pack.
It nice to see something different once in a while and that is why even though their games are low rated they remain one of my more favorited teams.

Regardless of spin-offs, remakes, or ports the PSP and DS RPG line up is completely fantastic.
