Forums - Microsoft - 360 JRPGs

Alright, we are all aware that the 360 has a plethora of JRPGs available, but some people (myself included) are probably wondering which ones to buy. So in this thread, I am asking that we shoot some opinions off about them so potential buyers (or just myself) can figure out which games suit their tastes the most. So right now the list is looking like:

Eternal Sonata

Tales of Vesperia

Blue Dragon

Lost Odyssey

Enchanted Arms

Infinite Undiscovery

The Last Remnant

Star Ocean: The Last Hope

I suppose we can include Ninety-Nine Nights as well and Magna Carta II when it releases as well

Whether you want to rate the games, rank them, or give a brief description of each and say what you like or dislike (like story or the battle system for instance) that would be extremely helpful! Anyway, I hope to get an interesting variety of opinions here, as I am curious as to what people who've played some of these titles think of them.

Tales of Vesperia

Star Ocean 4 is probably not worth a buy if you are a really big jRPG fan, it's fairly bad overall, with some of the most painful dialogue and atrocious story/character development I've ever seen in a jRPG.

That being said,

Lost Odyssey,
Blue Dragon,
and Tales of Vesperia are worth getting.

The rest are not very good at all.

Except SO4 had a FANTASTIC battle system.  I had a lot of fun playing that game.

OT, in order of best to worst of the ones I've played:

LO (this game is a must)

TOV - excellent game

SO4 - I agree some of the story is rather corny and melodramatic but the combat is outstanding

Eternal Sonata - I played this a while ago and didn't finish but it was enjoyable

Last Remnant - finished this one....some technical issues mar the game but the combat is very unique and interesting once you get the hang of it

================

The above games I enjoyed, the next 2 I didn't get very far in but I'll probably give them another chance:

UI - This one has potential but for some reason I lost interest pretty early on....actually, I remember, I got a boss fight and died and then realized I had to go back an hour to get back to the boss fight and really didn't like it enough to replay that much....it's been a while now so I'll give it another try

Blue Dragon - I'll give this one a second chance but I really didn't have much fun in the few hours I played and I hated the characters.

ToV the best on Xbox SO4 is okay but the rest is horrible i dont know why people think LO is so good the story was alright but i couldnt get into the game

They're all pretty unimpressive except for Tales of Vesperia. One should skip the rest (possibly consider Lost Odyssey if they don't care about gameplay or like theirs outdated), and also consider Blue Dragon.

LO is great, the story is ok, but the dreams approach is pretty interesting. Gameplaywise, it's pretty standard, though the battles are a bit slow to my taste (HD animations take longer than 16 bit sprites :p).

ES is nice. Very colorfull and pretty. The story is wierd but it's ok. I play this one with my GF as you have multiplayer in fight sequences.

BD, have it but only played the demo.... the fighting ok I guess... but I really got it cause i'm a tori fan.

UI, played 2 hours, it was good. Still not done on LO though but this one i'll continue next. It's supposed to be short though...

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

You can't count N3 as JRPG. It's not one at all.

My favorites out of the bunch are Tales of Vesperia and Lost Odyssey.

I also enjoyed IU and Blue Dragon but both games have some large problems.

I did not like Enchanted Arms or SO4.

I haven't enough/beaten TLR or ES.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

All of them...That's how it is with JRPGs...You feel you achieved something no matter how unbearable it is...And now you get GScore for it...

First off I just have to let you know that Ninety-Nine Nights is a Hack n' Slash Action game not an RPG by any stretch. I have personally played all those games you mentioned that are JRPG out thus far and have enjoyed each to some degree. The top 3 IMO are Star Ocean:The Last Hope, Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia. Followed by The Last Remnant, Blue Dragon & Eternal Sonata. Than finally last but certainly not least IMO would be Enchanted Arms than Infinite Undiscovery. Keep in mind each of these titles ahs something in it that I enjoyed and depending on your own taste your order may be different from my own. I look forward to adding Resonance of Fate, Magna Carta 2 & Final Fantasy 13 to the list in the next couple months. :)

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.
