Forums - Sales - Killzone 2 SALES are Very Disappointing (Just Realized)

I think the sales are alright. The game can still be bundled a shitload and has not even seen a holiday season yet. I think it will be fine even though modern warfare will annihilate its sales.

Sony's advertisement in NA has been horrible for almost 2 years now
Sony's better off playing this 2007 commercial (best one imo) than the one's I been seeing for the last year

PS3 fans seem to hype up games and not back it up. Frankly, I find it annoying.

At that level of sales (including a fair amount of bundling), it is quite feasible the game hasn't yet made a profit.

Don't start this again... it was garbage when the game launched and is garbage now. Sony probablly gets 35 dollars per copy sold being Dev, Pub, and console manufacture. And the 60 million has been proven to be a god damn rumor from Surfer Girl. The only thing of intrest in this thread about the budget was the guy who said GG had 200 people working on. They where probablly part time hourly temps though... Probablly make 30k a year if they worked all year. That would me about 3.5 regular employees.

I admit to hyping it up, I was excited to PLAY the game. Although I thought it would sell more (and thus am a little disappointed) and considering the time of year it released, and the flooded FPS market, it didn't do too bad. I would've expected it to be at 2.5mill by now though...

I think most people forget the hype this game had, at least on the internet. Seriously, this game was hyped at incredible levels on the internet. It made Gears of War look like nothing. And then when the time came for it to actually sell, all the PS3 owners vanished.

As you and I both know, internet hype does nothing in the real world. People in the real world didn't hype this game to no end, even though the internet ate it up...

Well, internet hype seems to work for the 360. Not to draw a comparison, but I don't see why there's such a discrepancy with the PS3.

nik - so they claim the game was in development for 5 years... riiiiight... I'd love to see the numbers of how it went from 45 employees to more than they currently have employed now a year before they had 45 employees...

Easy.. 45 for the CG trailer for the E3.. real development 140 people.. last year of development 200... but he is the Director of GG.. but what does he know? And it's still 4 years...  he is  saying 140 people in 4 years.. that's his minimum people.. and in the last year it went up to 200..

Also when Sony bought GG from Media Republic they already had 100 people working there..
from the blog of Media Republic: http://www.molblog.nl/bericht/Media-Republic-verkoopt-Guerrilla-Games-aan-Sony/

"All 100 people from GG are transfered to Sony..."

And the bump from 140 to 200 people were extra people helping out.. most in the art department.. I'm a graphic designer and friends of mine have worked on KZ2 for a year..

So they went from 100 to 140 instantlythe second Sony bought them and they have less employees than that. Got it.

Lol.. why are you being a bitch about the numbers the director of GG gives us?

But anyway they where only working on Killzone Liberation and the CG trailer when they where bought by Sony... that would be right with 100 people.. they expanded quickly in 2005 when they where bought cause they started to work on KZ2.. I'm guessing a 1/3 of the people working in GG aren't from the netherlands cause they couldn't find the talent here... They gave a lot of people a project contract... you just work on 1 project.. it happens a lot for graphic designer.. High pay for a short time.. I used to do this a lot..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

At times, this game was called the Halo killer...now...I can only assume they mention in terms of the impact on the gaming world...and that KZ2 would be the new benchmark...maybe I'm wrong, but that was my perspection from the hype.

So true...

That is a good slap in fanboys face. That hype was so obnoxious... KZ2 will destroy, will lead, will prevail... what a stupidity...

Still, I agree with the OP. Good game - Bad sales... why ? It is one of the best shooter this gen.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
