And it wouldn't be as tedious as you make it sound. You just had to get a GF early that could learn Encounter None and then run through the game One Hitting the bosses with High Level magic or your upped strength stat. |
I find that the process of drawing all your magic is too tedious for me to actually enjoy the game; It is too repetetive and mindless. Refining items both bought and fought for, I find to be an interesting way to power up characters. I don't think the level system is broken, you get better items from higher level monsters, plus your base stats are higher - especially if you have stat+ abilities equipped while you are leveling, that should make you more powerful on higher levels. I agree the system certainly could use some massive overhauls, it took me A LOT of reading and playing to get comfortable with 10 years ago.
