@ssj12, another reason for the slow down is people have almost universaly converted their libraries from vhs to dvd, so barring new to dvd from vhs releases or never released titals, your not seeing people rebuy movies to fill out the collection.

I still say both blue ray and hd dvd, are lazer disc, this year they celibrated selling more than vhs, in combined sales for the first time...

i'm thinking.... a lot more than that. heard of moore's law?

sadly I can't think of a good number right off hand, but something like 10-15 times more powerful. someone come up with a better number.

Geez. If Sony lets the PS3 last that long then they better be winning haha. I mean cause most likely Xbox 3 and N6 will launch in 2010-2011. And if they enter earlier, especially Nintendo, with the brandname then its not going to be pretty for Sony in the 8th generation.

The point is Sony is going to release their next console depending on how the PS3 does and how the competition does. Meaning if PS3 is getting its ass kicked and losing billions and the competition is ready to start the 8th generation in 2011 then they better damn well have something to compete. When the PS4 will release is totally dependent on economics and market brandname not to mention competition. You can't plan years in advance when your next console will release. If Sony would have said in 2000 that they are releasing the PS3 in 2005 then they would have shot themselves in the foot. Really I'm sure Sony wanted to release the PS3 Holidays 2007, not Holidays 2006, but things change dependent on what the competition does or how the market is working and your own personal economics.

So far I have seen about 5 posts that actually have gone through the article to say why its points are BS, i have yet to see 1 post to go through it and state why they are valid.. there is a lot of pointless bickering though over who is a fanboy and who isn't

 And bashing anyone who supports it as fanboys is some form of idiotic pennance? I used to be an N fanboy, about ten years ago, until I played other systems, and realized they all had great games. Yet guess what? I still liked the games Nintendo made. This was when I started to learn about objectivity, as in looking at the actual merits of games and consoles , rather than who made them.

That's also why I don't attack people for what they favor, but when they use illogical and outright false information to make the other side look worse, as you are doing. You don't call those attacking this Microsoft fanboys, even though this article directly bashes that systems, and some here have clearly called on the article for it. So you ignored that to single out Nintendo. It's the selective information and illoogical basis that I am attacking you for.

On-Topic: 2014 is just stupid. The PS brand being the flagship of Sony now, I doubt they can survive on the PS3 alone. I see PS4 by 2011 at very late.

The PSP on the other hand is doing very well. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony puts priority on the PSP over the PS3.
