Forums - Nintendo - Do You Think Capcom is Happy With Monster Hunter Tri Sales?

makingmusic476, while you may feel that MH3 on PS3 could have done well enough (and by well enough I mean both in sales and profits), apparently Capcom didn't think so, or they wouldn't have stopped PS3 development of MH3 and gone ahead with a Wii version.

That is quite evident.  :P

And my response to max/viper wasn't directly related to MH.  I was just saying that you can't really compare EA's financial situation to that of Japanese companies, given the open pricing of games in Japan.  EA games sell horribly in the region, and don't benefit from potentially higher price points.

Yes, absolutely. It has outsold the previous console versions by a great deal already. Now all they have to do is port it to the PSP and then they'll sell 4+ million more copies.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

well the game is getting legs now (according to the japanese preview) so it might sell more than the first shipment which IMO is not very good considering the first shipment is taking a long time to be sold. I say this because i see some games selling more than the first shipment on the first week, or those are just huge success?
Wasn't this game the one at bargain price a couple weeks after launch?

Yeah..Just like MGS4 before it. Gimme a break.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I think that they should be happy with sales so far, Although how it does during the holiday season and in the west will be the real teller of whether it reaches expectations or not.

Thanks for answering, that was all i needed to know (thats why i asked in the first place) :D

Capcom sold 1M units at full price, that should be suficient to make them happy... retailers on the other side...

But my primary point was about not selling the first shipment in the first month(s) like what happens with some games, even if it is rare.

"Capcom sold 1M units at full price, that should be suficient to make them happy... retailers on the other side..."

I would say retailers are probably still happy as well - the 1M units will eventually be all sold, and the "bargains", while indeed lower priced, were not bottom of the barrel bargains, so even after eventually selling some of the games they ordered at a lower price, the retailers probably earned something on those as well (not to mention all the full priced games they sold in the first weeks).

"But my primary point was about not selling the first shipment in the first month(s) like what happens with some games, even if it is rare."

So in your book a game that shipped 100,000 copies and sold all of them in the first month is a success and a game that shipped a million copies but hasn't sold all of them but only 900,000 so far is less so?

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

^yes!

i mean, the game that sold a million will give more revenue (making publisher happier) than the 100,000 sold game but the one that sold more than the expectations i think is more successful, or atleast the franshise is building momentum. I really don't know, just guessing...

900k in 8 weeks, best selling monster hunter on a console. i think capcom should be very happy

Nintendo Network ID: Sherlock99

I think not.

MY ZELDA COLLECTION

It hasn't quite broke 1 million yet, but I have no doubt that it will. I don't see how Capcom is dissastisfied with the sales of the title.
