If charging to play online is bad then why is it ok to keep charging monthly to play online with no offline? You can try and justify it but the fact is you're still being charged just for online multiplayer and there are free alternatives out there. This is basically the biggest argument AGAINST live. Ones ok and ones not? If its ok due to the community then the community on live is superior to PSN so that should be justification enough right? Ah but now its "types" of games not the actual games themselves. |
Yes, FFXI, I'm aware. And people have to pay monthly for that anyhow to SOE, they didn't play the game for free.
Also you are right, why bother with Halo when I can play UT for free on my PC? Or Quake, HL, CS, and I can keep on listing.
Also the monthly ubscription is ok because the game actually grows, meanwhile LIVE is a service, not a game. I don't remember spending 3 months to clear new content that came out for LIVE like people do when new content comes out for WoW.
And is is any game that does not sport thousands of people being simultaneously online. Any other game is free, unless it's on live. Where you have to pay extra just to play online no matter what the game is.
Also, since I already bet my left nut, I'll bet my right that when MMOs somehow do start coming out for the Xbox, they will cost an additional cost to play online, or they will be like Guild Wars (Which is not truly an MMO).
