I know it is considered "new tech" and all, so the initial push from existing owners is to trade there higher quality and proven PS3, for a cheap plastic shell of it's former glory.
Sorry, Sorry, I am still trying to wrap my mind around the idea of members trading in (IMO) a better built, better looking, already proven reliable console for the new, cheap version, that may or may not have issues yet seen.
Sony built the slim cheaper so that they could lower costs and get new adopters. So what do people start doing, trading in the higher quality system for the plastic stuff......(sorry I got angst, but come on people, keep your Fats and pick up a second slim PS3 if you must). If you have a 40g or something, then just buy a 200gig HD and you are set, but people are losing money to make a trade for a console they already own...........
Personally, I would pick up a $100 price cut New Fat over the slim any day of the week.
Sorry, back to the OP.
I love my Fat, and though I do see an early push of sales from current owners, the PS3 slim should have considerable sales generated from new adopters as well.
