Prediction: PS3 Slim will sell mostly to existing PS3 owners

I don't mean to troll (or to imply that you were), but I have to agree. I'm struck by how so many people are apparently willing to trade in (and pay extra for) a well-built, fairly reliable, and pretty good-looking machine for a fairly ugly replacement. More alarmingly is the fact that the Slim is apparently the product of Sony doing damn near everything it can to reduce its manufacturing costs: while I'm not saying they cut corners with the thing, I personally would stick with my proven system and let others determine whether the new machine has any serious issues.

           I appreciate your two cents. 

           My intent was not to troll either.  I think the Slim is a great move by Sony and can/will do some great things sales wise.  I am just having a hard time with current owners trading in (and as you indicated) paying in excess to the trade in, a better quality console they already own.

           As for sales, I can see some great things happening in regards to new adopters.
