Forums - Sony - Yahoo "Is now the time to buy a Playstation 3?"

I think its the perfect time for consumers who don't have one to buy a PS3. We are really getting closer to the end of this gen and the beginning of a new one. There will most likely be one or more price drops on the PS3 before the gen ends.

When do you think the PS4/720/Wii Too will launch? 2010?

Interesting that they couldn't resist the "ps3 has no gaems" kick at the end of an interesting article.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Both Sony and MS have said we're not to the halfway point yet, and I kind of believe it, especially from Sony.  Wii has shown us that graphics don't "matter" all that much (huge sales don't require top graphics, at least) and the HD consoles are so powerful that they will be able to do passable graphics for years to come.  I think MS and Sony will want to really reap their rewards over the next 4 years.  PSN will grow immensely and from both consoles we'll see at least 2 new control schemes and more downloadable games (which are more likely to be able to hit 1080p/60 fps because there's no disc streaming bottleneck).  Oh, and PSP/PS3 integration will only get better.

I thnk it's a great time to buy a PS3, in part because we ain't going anywhere else for quite a while.  There'll be an all-new Sony handheld, following the PSPGo, before there's a PS4.

I totally agree with you. We're not at the end of this gen, far from it.

Will people forget about no backwards compatibility. That was valid back in 2007 when there were no good games but now theres enough PS3 games that it doesn't matter. Just to rub it in I have a 60 gig BC PS3 and i haven't played a PS2 game on it since 2007.

So you're gonna tell me what i should and should not want?  It does matter to me a hell of a lot.  It doesn't matter to me if the PS3's lineup is better than the PS2's I still want BC on my Playstation.  The fact that they put it in for launch then take it out is a horrible thing to do to customers.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
