Compare for yourself.

Normal / Upscaled

This comparison leads me to believe that u've never actually played the game.

"xbox 360 doesn't emulate old xbox games at higher resolutions, ps3 doesn't emulate old ps2 games for the same reason it's very very difficult to do accurately."

False.

PS3 upscales PS2 games, and they look much better.  Mouse-over these screens:

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

Not a bad idea for a Wii Slim or something like that launching at 199$
Just upscaling the graphics can be considered HD of course it can.

You're a genious.

What you are basically asking for is a good upscaler.

If you have a HDtv you shouldn't be worried about buying a decent upscaling player (blu-ray/dvd player or something) for your TV anyway, so just plug your Wii into that instead.

There is a big misconception in this thread. What you are asking for isn't upscaling, as Rob6021 previously explained. The concept of rendering at different resolution of what the game is programed for requires much more than only having more backbuffer ram, or more pixel or polygon power.

You need to capture all the draw calls, and transform them through emulation to the higher resolution. It's a much harder problem that many believe, because even when you have compatible architectures, emulation is usually orders of magnitude slower. You only have to look at the speed differential in DosBox, being software emulation on a much higher speed, compatible architecture, than running the games in the original machines. You need a Pentium 2 233 to run games at the same speed than a 386 SX 33.

Are you kidding about that left shot?

There is absolutely no way.

yeah LCD tvs don't have good upscaler. it looks like that.

frybread - it's my understanding that dolphin actually renders games at certain resolutions, as opposed to upscaling. So the 720p shot in the op (and the one i linked) aren't upscaled.

Exactly. Furthermore they added AA and AF.

An upscaled SMG pic won't look that good.

And really, this is all I want. Please, Nintendo!! Make it so!!

i'm afraid your beating on a dead body :(

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

Get a good TV and it'll do a reasonable job upscaling for you (my 52" plasma works great).
