Forums - Gaming - Batman: AA Receives Uninspiring ( Guinness World Record )

Batman's been beaten plenty of times by plenty of people. Bane and Swamp Thing probably handed him his soundest defeats.

@Khuutra

I thought so.

To be honest he isn't a superhero, but that is just lame to make some sort of arguement over it. Hes a vigilante and a crime fighter and fights enough people with super powers that its really a non issue.

I'm not much of a Batman fan per say(hes too soft on crime), Im more of a Punisher guy myself but they are in the same boat. They are vigialnte/crime fighters and are comic heros. Both use superior intellect, weaponry, toughness and (particurlarly in Batman's case) martial arts skill to defeat their foes. They are not "super" heros they are just comic heros, but to make the arguement that its not a superhero game is just a semantics arguement.

I disagree with all the love this game is getting. Everything Batman is "cool" since the Christopher Nolan re-imagining of the character and I think that plays a big part in the hype. Its an ok but flawed game, with a nice blend of beat em up and metroidvania. It is worth a rental at best, so I cant see it being best game of any genre.

@Zen......I'd bet everything that Batman couldnt beat Preacher

I'm pretty sure I could pwn you in this argument, but I'm going to let my earlier posts be the end of my rantings.

Instead, let me ask you. Have you read the entire Garth Ennis punisher run? The MAX series is FANTASTIC! Oh man. I'm telling you, get the Punisher Omnibus, and then go for the Max series on amazon, you will NOT be dissapointed.

...and shit yeah dude, Batman would kill Preacher. You are underestimating him. Even Herr Star figured out all you had to do was not understand his word, and he's pwnd. Batman sucessfully faught the Swamp Thing....you think JC could fight the Swamp Thing, lol? Dude. Might as well fight the Earth itself.

Anyway, yes, I'm well aware of how nerdy this conversation is. That said, at least you have a reasoning behind your rantings. Most people who make that argument have never even read a book.

That is true. Damn, now I want to read it again!

Haven't read the entire thread, but I agree with Zen on just about everything he wrote.

I am not up to date on all of the Batman comics but I see "Batman can not be beaten" written all over the place and I have to ask one question.

Didn't Bane break Batman's back in the comics? Knightfall series.

I remember this when I was a kid. I think it may have been when Bane first popped up. I have these comics somewhere.

He never got his own revenge on Bane either.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Yeah, Im in the middle of the Max series, almost at the end of Ennis' run I have 1 more arc till isue 60.  I dont care for the 2002 run too much, not serious enough and too much of Ennis' potty humor. I am a huge fan for the "Confederacy of Dunces" arc in that series though. "Welcome Back Frank" is good as well, but I've yet to read(I do own) the return of Ma Gnucci series that came out a few months back. I've got a big backlog of novels and issues I have to get to.....*sigh*

I guess I am underestimating Batman. I guess being the worlds greatest detective he would do his homework and find a way. Though God didnt want any piece of Custer Batman welcomes the challenge. Its insane that the pinnacle of man is better than any mutant. Im not up to date as much as I would like to be on Batman, I really dont like most of the DC characters, but Batman is cool and my roomate has a ton of graphic novels, so I have a lot of catching up to do. Too many comics and videogames, so little time.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

....When the Hell did Batman fight the Swamp Thing successfully? That damn sure wasn't in Alan Moore's run, because in Alan Moore's run Swamp Thing beat Batman's ass like a redheaded step child, and that was before Swamp Thing awoke to the full extent of his powers.

Congratz sir, you called me on my bullshit. I really didn't expect anyone to have read that most excellent of excellent runs, besides myself.

That said, nobody can beat the Swamp Thing, and the mere assertion that anyone could, is absurd.

I bow to your knowledge of my world sir.

He successfully "fought" him. That is enough.

Moore's Batman wouldn't have the edge required to hurt Abby, and that is why Batman couldn't beat the Swamp Thing. That said, being to Abby what Batman was to her, above all other hero's, was a far greater triumph than Superman will ever be able to claim.

Ah, bro, The Swamp Thing is a DC character. Swamp Thing + Batman + Everything Moore wrote under the DC banner > Marvel, despite the Punisher's godlike greatness.

Right now, I'm really into The Boys. I've read every issue like 10 times, lol.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I stopped reading The Boys around issue 8. There was this problem with DC and they had to change print.

Its amazing, but man, Ennis has screwed up mind. Lol

That new superheroine "audition" to get into the superhero league (i forgot the name).

ps - Also Zen, I replied to yout post and owned you with my arguments (well, in my mind I did ) but you didnt respond.

My buddy got me the Swamp Thing hard cover a month back for my bday.  Its in the backlog, but I will get there. As I said I dont really like DC, but I mean the traditional characters. A lot of the Vertigo stuff is good. I'm on Y book 7 right now. I just think characters like (this might get me burned) Superman, Green Lantern, Aquaman.....ect are lame. For the record I think a lot of Marvel staples are garbage as well but I dislike a lot more DC guys. I'll give The Boys a shot when Im done with Y.
