Forums - Nintendo - There is NO REASON why the RBN can't work on Wii.

I believe that Harmonix is simply lazy. If they actually had some effort, why not allow people to download a "Rock Band Network Channel", perhaps by letting people submit their serial number as a "wii shop code"? Then just make the app a gateway to the RBN songs, and allow it to modify the Rock band 2 downloadable content file, which would then support SDHC cards because it is inbuilt into the new channel. Simple. There is no reason the wii can't do it. I think that Microsoft just paid Harmonix NOT to do it.

"Microsoft paid them to do it"? Yep, but they didn't pay them not to do on PS3, right?

Nintendo doesn't allow game patching unless the game is completely broken without it (like that terrible Tomb Raider Underworld glitch that didn't let some people beat the game). What you're suggesting would still be a patch. Just because it isn't automatically downloaded doesn't mean it wouldn't be a patch.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

What you say they should do sounds pretty complicated to me and that is usually not good for selling things. Maybe I am wrong on that though. I do believe they are being jerks though by not bringing the same functionality to all the consoles. I think companies should make all the versions the same or not sell the versions they can't keep up to par. Seems to just lead to dissappointing the customer base.

I just don't understand why the network songs can't be routed through to the store. Nothing i can see against that.

Of course, Harmonix has demonstrated before that they don't like money, so its not surprising.

Why doesn't Harmonix send the necessary stuff out on disc if owners of the game send in proof of purchase or something or issue an ultimatum to Nintendo to let them patch it.

It's not about letting anyone do anything. Unless a Wii game is expressly programmed to be patchable, the game is not patchable. Basically, you have to see the possibility of patching ahead of time. Wii's BIOS makes it impossible for patches to work.

This is NOT a patch. It is simply a channel that manipulates the Rock Band 2 downloadable content data file, and since the channel will be writing to the file, it can support writing to SDHC cards. Then, the rock band 2 game can simply "read only" the data and copy them over.

Is a EA GAME, thats the problem. If guitar hero is going to have all online options of anothers systems, obviously someone is doing wrong his work...
