Only Sweden and Switzerland in Europe I think have broadband networks that compare to S. Korea.

Korea is just 6th in the list, tied with Sweden.

"It takes maybe 30 people to make a Wii game, and just a handful (or one) to make an iPhone game."

I'm savin this for the archive.

Xbox 560? I think he means 540. 360 + 180 = 540

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

actually i think EA is just bitter that they can't get any games to sell in Japan.

Korea is #1 in internet speed, but only in Seoul.

Yeah but speeds are good enough in many other places.

It's not like online gaming requires a great connection... Anything with not very high ping times is good enough.

In terms of penetration, yes some European countries compare, though Korea leads in both penetration and speeds, which is the point. Sweden and Switzerland have higher speeds but lower penetration than Netherlands and Denmark for example. S. Korea is ahead in both.

This study is quite recent:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

yea i mean honestly why do you need 1000 mb connection?  Especially when since it's the fastest in the world by far you can only download at that speed from a very select few sites.

But please explain how the speeds make it so fantastic for gaming...

I mean, maybe they can download games faster from Steam, but so what?

As bandwidth has become available, the use of that bandwidth increased also. Right now games are limited to sending small packets of information to eachother. That's something that limits the gameplay of MMO's for example. Right now they're designed around that factor, but with higher speeds players have the less they have to be limited by it.

(although they may still be limited by the people who continue to play on slower connections, as our MMO's are..).

Got a good laugh out of the Korea is the future of gaming/ Japan is the past remark. If garbage mmorpgs, horrible games and rampant pirating are the future of gaming, then you can have it. Now just be a good, bloated corporation EA, and spend yourself into insolvency.
