Forums - Gaming - How will the PS3 surge pass the 360 in the future?

I'm a Nintendo fan but it's a fact that the 360 has an absolute killer line-up. I don't understand how Sony fans keep saying that MGS, FF and GT will completely save the PS3 and will make it rush past the 360.
360 has Ninja Gaiden, Fable, Lost Odyssee, a more complete GTA4 and of course way better games that are already released (Halo, Bioshock, Gears, Forza, Blue Dragon).

People who will buy a new console in 2008 will look at the number of great games available, because that's why you buy a console. Most diehard fans all have bought their prefered console. MGS alone won't save the PS3 because 360 has 5 games of about the same quality (for example Splinter Cell will be exclusive to 360). Of course real MGS fans will buy the game but the PS2 version sold about 4M of which a million will probably have a PS3 already and MGS4 won't get 2M sold WW. Don't get me wrong, MGS is a league of its own, but people won't spend $400 to play MGS4 if they can buy a 360 with a lot more games.

End 2008 we might see the PS3 increase in sales. Then GT5, MGS, FF, Killzone2 will be released, but then the 360 might have too big a lead in the States and Wii in Japan (and probably US as well) and one or two of the above 3rd party games will have gone multiplat.

Selnor,

Yeah and Zelda is Miyamoto’s baby, but Eiji Aunuma is the director of Twilight Princess.

My point was that you are just wrong, and the only reason why you say that Final Fantasy XII was “f*cked up” is to make yourself feel better.

People keep sleeping on this FACT.  How many people are seriously going to buy ALL the great games coming out this holiday?  All those games will be available for 2008 sometimes even cheaper.  I am only buying Mass Effect this holiday but slowly but surely I'll pick Guitar hero 3, Assasing creed and others game that I may not have been able to affford at the time.  PS3 fanboys think the PS3 is following in the PS2 footsteps when the 360 is the one almost exactly following it with many games and following their own plan vs trying to keep up.  Here is another one for you PS3 fanboys, why doesn't the 360 sell as well it should even though it has so much going for it? Because it still cost alot for many gamers.  When the 360 is at the PS2 price point then you can start comparing apples with apples but until then you can't compare this gen systems with last gens because of the ridicolous high prices they launch at and how long it has taken for them to drop down in price.  One thing that will always overcome fanboys is common sense and reliable data like the sales numbers listed on this site.  Can fanboys denied Halo has sold 4 mil +?  Can they denied it is behind the 360 and wii by more than twice as much worldwide? Don't think so lol.

I personnaly add :
GTAIV exlusive add-on

Wow.....

4 proven next year for 360 try to use that brain of yours instead of your fanboy one

NG 2

Fable 2

Splinter cell 5

Banjo 3

and the new IP are fantastic looking, if ps3 fans were gloating about how lair etc was going to save the ps3, then 360 fans can about next year, besides the proven. Serously i doubt they will be like lair, and only 6 hours long like HS

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

FF 12 was a step in both the right and wrong direction, in terms of story big ways backwords, and character development was beyond sad, it was the first FF i had no emotion to at all, nor did i want to finish it, and i still have yet to finish it

it was a step in the right direction in terms of new gameplay, though i rather have action then what they did, it was something new and refeshing.

still ff 12 was dissapointing to me, was very fun for a while, but got repititive, and then there was no point in beating it.

I would say the 360 wasn't selling well this year until Halo 3's release, and that could be attributed to 1) anticipation for a price drop, and 2) the RROD and impending Falcon chipset. Even so it has been selling better than the PS3, and steadily increasing it's lead over that system.

The real tell for either system will be this holiday's sales. Sony will have the newer, cheaperish models on the shelves, and the 360 will have the Falcon sets, Halo 3, and at least a marginal price drop in place. However, the PS3 would have to have a nearly unprecedented turnaround, or 360 an unprecedented collapse, in order for the 360 to be overtaken in 1 year's time. The best I think Sony can hope for is to regain respectability this holiday, close the gap in 2008, and then, maybe, make a run for #2 in 2009. But again, I think that's the best chance. I think the more likely outcome is either the 360 maintaining it's lead for several years.

Market size/ relevance to the specific console.
Both having their aaa launched, who can sale more.
Price point/value
Xbox vs PS brand world wide.

= who sales more.

I consider Final Fantasy XII the best RPG for the PS2 and a better Final Fantasy than VIII for the PSone. Still, there are always fans of the series that are dissapointed because they did expect something else or simply because they dind't like the new direction, but that doesn't take that Final Fantasy XII was on the best received RPG's of the last generation.

In consider the Halo series crap, but you will never see post coming from me in which I say that Halo 3 was f*cked up.

Since when were new IP's counted out as potential heavy hitters? Seems like this is the current card the Sony fanboys are playing. (New IP's = unproven = 360 is going to have "nothing" next year).

I mean, just because some MAJORLY hyped Sony new IP's didnt make as big a splash as expected (HS, Lair) doesnt mean you should apply this forecast to all future 'unproven' games. I mean, Bioshock surprised the crap out of everyone didnt it?

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

Yes, New IP can be just as good, if not better then proven, Bioshock proved this.

Also again....... 360 has 4 proven IP coming out next year, not counting that Halo wars is kinda proven in a way by its name alone O.O that it will sell, but who knows
