Considering all of the previous FF remakes have gone to Nintendo handhelds (GBA and DS), that is also a possibility.

Given that this is S-E, we could also be talking about 2013 -- which means it won't matter since the Mayans said the world ends in 2012.

well that's one step closer up the ten-thousand step hill, I'd find it odd they'd remake VII before V and VI, although they could skip V since it is one of the least popular

To be honest I hope a Final Fantasy VII remake appears on all three consoles, nobody deserves to miss out on probably the most anticipated game ever and there are fans of Final Fantasy VII on all consoles. Screw Fanboy crap.

Sony don't own any exclusive rights to Final Fantasy VII(I think they may with Advent Children Complete) so there should be no reason for it to be exclusive unless someone hands SquareEnix a Sky Scraper full of money. Sure Sony published FF7 outside of Japan but that's because Squaresoft never had the required license's or whatever to publish outside of Japan back then. A similar thing happened with with Microsoft and Ninja Gaiden II and look what's happening, Sigma II. Also FF7 was published by Eidos (Now owned by SquareEnix) for Microsoft Windows back in 1998.

If it was 360/Wii exclusive, well some Sony fanboy's organs would probably explode and a few would probably commit suicide (Nearly happened with FFXIII 360 announcement on Gamefaqs) instead of going out and buying a 360 or Wii like any real FF7 fan would.

 If a FF7 remake was announced Playstation exclusive I would be down the shop within a heartbeat purchasing my own Playstation 3. Most probably after jizzing in my pants and then taking a shower.

EVERYTHING Final Fantasy 7, is and has always been with Sony. PSone, PSP, PS2, PSN... and so on.

Remember reading a summary of FFVI and FFVII once. In the FFVII a few words such as Kefka was replaced by Sephiroth but was more or less 95% the same text. Was hilarious.

Yeah and Rare was even a 1st party developer for Nintendo. Now for Microsoft.

 Some developers keep the rights to their games and some don't. It all depends on the deal with the publisher. 

Square Enix like to keep their creations to themselves. Funny enough though Disney own's the Kingdom Heart's IP, tough thing to give up to have the mighty Disney characters grace your game.

That is absurd. I used to own the damned PC version, and it wasn't published by Sony.

Sony does not own the rights to FF7, nor is there any reason to believe a remake wouldn't go multiplat at the very least.
