Great hold for MH3. It's at 40k, that's what I expected for this week :)

How is a drop from 84K to 40K a hold?

72k to 40k, you can't compare famitsu to vgchartz.  That's pretty good because you're going from a holiday week to a non-holiday week.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

The MH3 number is at the mercy of the black controller bundle which is the most popular SKU. There were more of these shipped last week, hence the numbers didn't completely collapse.

After a holiday, you'd expect it to drop more. But it didn't. The week before Obon, it was at 137k and dropped to 84k. It dropped 53k. Going from a holiday to a normal week, it only dropped 44k. Less than the Obon drop. To me that looks like it's a pretty good hold. Not to mention, how many console games sell 40k in their 4th week? And it's still in the top 5 in Famitsu.

No matter how you state it, how satistify you feel about this week's sales, there is no way to drop 50% of your previous week and call it a hold. It just dropped less than you expected.

Nope, it dropped as much as I expected it to. Last week I predicted 40k-45k. I was spot on.

It dropped, I know.

The JP preview said 31k standalones were sold...

In total, the controller bundle was the most widely shipped and sold during the first week although the regular game only SKU is catching up now mostly due to the erratic availability of the controller bundle:

Total week 1 sellthrough according to Media Create:

CCPro bundles: ~348k / 497k
Standalone game: ~174k / 435k
Black Wii bundle: ~20k / 25k
All SKUs: 542k / 957k

Seems MHTri's price drop saved it... at least for now.

BTW does anyone know what is the reason of BengaBenga absence?

Saved it from what? Total floppage?

MH3 should continue to sell decently since there's nothing else competing for its sales on the Wii for some time. Is Wii Fit Plus the next big game?

yes it is, that's in october, there's really nothing in september.

PS3 seems a bit to low to me, it might be low stock though since the Slim is gonna release soon.
Also MH3 did good, hopfully next week it won't drop under 30k.
