I think Sony (or the stores) didn't drop the price of the PS3 in Japan, at least not right away. That would explain the 3.7k it sold last week (those would be 3.7k very misinformed consumers...).

I think MHTRi at 40k is very decent (could be from price drop on the stand alone) and demand on the CCpro bundle is still apprently high. The next month will be very telling of its staying power and eventual legs.

WSR drop surpirses me though (and disappoints me a bit as well I must admit).

That 3.7k is the lowest Famitsu number for the PS3, what a shameful record.

Amazing for Dragon Quest IX, it has managed to outsell Tomodachi Collection which is not an easy task. And also great sales for Monster Hunter 3, unexpectedly it outsells Wii Sports Resorts.

Last week numbers for comparison.

This was the week of the conference, so I assume stock must have really dried up, so I assume their will be one more really bad week before the slims come

Joking aside, I have read (Gaf) that PS3s are hard to find in Japan, for those who would actually want to find one anyway.

The Japanese PS3 stock is probably the easiest for Sony to control, that's why the Phats are all gone by now in Japan.
