Forums - Sales - Wii Sports Resort a bit undertracked?

Not stating anything, just asking.

According to Nintendo's internal tracking the game has surpassed the 1m barrier in each of all 3 regions.

REDMOND, Wash., Aug. 25, 2009 - According to Nintendo's internal tracking figures, sales of the Wii Sports Resort™ game have surpassed 1 million copies in the United States since its July 26 launch. Japan and Europe have also sold more than 1 million copies each since the title launched in their respective markets. The collection of 12 resort-themed sports activities is on its way to becoming another Nintendo "long-tail" title that sells steadily over an extended period of time as opposed to a single flash on its launch day.

"Millions of consumers worldwide have demonstrated that they want their summer vacations to keep going," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Wii Sports Resort provides both novice and veteran players a fun, virtual escape to a resort island with their friends and family - something that will be even more appealing as the weather turns cooler this fall and winter."

Wii Sports Resort includes archery, Swordplay, table tennis, basketball, golf, bowling, Air Sports, Power Cruising, Frisbee®, cycling, canoeing and wakeboarding. The game sells at a suggested retail price of $49.99 and comes bundled with a Wii MotionPlus™ accessory, which brings exacting precision to games that have been designed to use it.

Nintendo's internal sales figures also show that more than 2 million Wii MotionPlus accessories are now in the hands of consumers in the United States. That includes those bundled with Wii Sports Resort and Electronic Arts' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, as well as those sold separately at a suggested retail price of $19.99 each.

VGChartz currently has it at 0.97M, 0.98M and 0.99M.

And this likely includes some data from beyond the 15th.

VGChartz data is from the 15th. It is now the 25th.

No adjustments are needed, just wait until Thursday when the new set of numbers are put up.

Considering the extra million Wii M+ in the US from SKU's other than Wii Sports Resort, is it reasonable to assume there's another million or more amongst both Europe and Japan? Over 5 million Wii Motion pluses out there after such a short time is easily enough to justify creating plenty of games for the Wii Motion plus, I just hope third parties agree.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Wii Sports Resort is going to be huge this Holiday season.

well if you want to be exact this is US only, meaning you probably have to add another 10% or so for other americas. Japan and Europe are right on. It suggests slight undertracking in NA but it's hardly significant.

VGChartz is also missing 1 weeks worth of data, which will probably account for your supposed slight undertracking.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

i guess you're right, i knew about the week missing but didn't know it was still selling so much per week. In fact if it sells as much as last week it suggest slight overtracking. When i say it suggests over/undertracking I don't mean vgchartz is wrong, both sources would have room for error, these aren't shipment numbers.

it was already adjusted up. look at the comments on the games wall.
