Forums - Nintendo - Why everybody hates cammie dunaway?

A lot here seems to use "looks phony" in the context of "is phony". That is not the same thing. The former is as often as not due to a poor stage presence, which I give she seems to have.

Cammie in real life? No. Shes just doing her job.

Cammie the game character. Yes, YOU ASSHOLES, WE COULD OF HAD A BETTER CHARACTER IN STREET FIGHTER 4 YET YOU NERDS ARE THAT DESPERATE THAT YOU VOTED AN ASS SHOT.

I have no problem with her. But she may remind people of Sarah Palin. And people hate her for no reason as well.

No. People disliked Cammie after E3 2008, which happened more than 2 months before anyone even knew who Sarah Palin was. So again, no.

Cammie is a marketing person. Nintendo has chosen to market its systems based upon fun (rather than over-hyping specs or belittling the competition). So it is her job to convey fun.

Fun appeals to those who think of video games as play. It does appeal to those who think of video games as a challenge. Hence lies the rub.

PS -- Cammie is no dummy. Her degrees from U of Richmond and Harvard say that.

What a pretentious post. Last I checked, the PS3 and 360 offer plenty of fun. They're also marketed as such. When Cammie threw a disc for a dog to catch it, that didn't really look fun. Nor did a lot of other things she showed off.

Why thank you for the complement!

Seriously though, it is how I think of the difference between the "hard core" and the "casual" gamer.  If you are trying to complete a game and rack up all the achievements, you are in it for the challenge rather than to just have "fun."  Meanwhile, others play just to have a good time.

I will admit that it does come off sounding a bit harsh and certainly the two states are not mutually exclusive.

Looking at other comments, the problem with Cammie is that she appears to be "fake" -- and there are just some people who are that way no matter how sincere they are about something.

Since I doubt that virtually no one here (participating in this particular forum discussion) has met her or talked with her, making presumptions about what is in her heart is really being pretentious.

So if you have met or talked with her it is OK to make presumptions about what is in her heart?

You'd at least have better ground than someone who hasn't met her at all.

She looks fake to me, that's all. Look at Reggie, the man seems to really believe want he says while this woman act uncomfortable in the big stage.

Because she is completely false and it is obvious. People do not like liars.

but Microsoft and Sony get a free pass? Multinational companies that manufacture products completely unrelated to games. Atleast you know Nintendo is wholly interested in this industry.

I think its just bitchy journalists as usual, its no wonder Dennise Kager (?) is in defense mode all the time. I feel sorry for Nintendo and i fucking hate the way theyre treated.

I like her despite the fact that my sig. contains a pretty obvious indicator of her inability to play games. But hey Miyamoto doesn't play games either.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I think her stage presence needs a lot of work, but I've found many here (note I mean "many", not "all") have trouble putting things in reasonable terms. They can't just state something. They have to embellish it. And they wonder why they aren't taken seriously.

She is evil. She represents the new nintendo. We must burn her down, and banish her soul to the netherealm.
