Forums - Gaming - Which version of Batman: Arkham Asylum should I buy?

@ kylie, how did you get it for £22, that is a great deal! Hopefully they aren't unique though I have pre-ordered from GAME

I was torn on this one as well. Decided on the 360 because I like the controller that much more than the PS3 controler.

I always go to a second hand store and see what is the cheapest version.

Remember though guys, recommending this games best consoles based upon exclusive content is also giving the edge to the 360 in some other major titles released this year, like MW2.

Except The Joker is content exclusive to the PS3, whilst the Modern Warfare Map Pack DLC is coming to both consoles, just the 360 slightly earlier.

Out of curiosity, what are these other "major titles" coming out in 2009 that will have DLC favouring the 360? I'll accept GTAIV, since L&D and BoGT are both 2009 despite the main game being 2008.

I will be picking up the best version on Ps3 (downloaded Joker content last night). I will however also will not be playing it until I platinum bioshock (4 trophies left).

Abou how long is this game? A lot of recent games have ended up a bit short.

Didn't i read somewhere that the 360 was the lead format for the game and the PS3 version was the port?

IF that is true then obviously that means the 360 version will be the better since a copy loses quality etc..

The PS3 gets exclusive content but we don't really know much about it. Could only last 5mins or something. In that instance playing the actual game with slightly better graphics and better controls for say 8 hours (or however long the game lasts) is better then playing it with lesser graphics but a nice 5 minute extra.

I'm sure Eurogamer will do one of their nice comparsion guides for us anyway.

Personally though i have ordered it for my PS3. Mainly because it was £10 cheaper then the 360 version. And even if it does have slightly crapper graphics i can handle that as in all honesty i don't notice the difference. As the old saying goes "you can only see the difference with your fanboy eyes" :)

The joker thing is only one level so it isnt even a consideration. Go for the 360 version.

exactly what is your reasoning?

He doesn't have a valid reason. He's usually negative towards the PS3, you'll get used to it.

@ Kitchensink: So I'm guessing it's the PS3 for you huh? Because of the extra content and marginal graphical differences, I can't blame you!

Yep, I just got back with the PS3 version and am about to go pop it in.  The extra content swayed me, since they're the same otherwise, regardless of which one has infinitesmally better graphics.  I do prefer the 360 controller, but judging from the demo I don't mind the PS3 controller at all.

Thanks for the tips, guys!  I'm off to go play!

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Here you go make up your mind from this. According to this 360 does not have better graphics.

According to Digital Foundry @ Eurogamer, 360 version looks better: has 2x MSAA, SSAO, motion blur, better lighting, and less screen tearing. But the differences are pretty slight, so these comparisons are a bit pointless.

Really curious on the PC version though - better textures, higher res, physx...
