Forums - Gaming - Which version of Batman: Arkham Asylum should I buy?

I've decided to take advantage of EB's one-day-only $20-off sale on Batman, as I've been addicted to the demo since it came out.  I'd like to know your thoughts on which one I should get.  I've played both versions of the demo, and found that they controlled similarly and that the 360 version had the edge in the graphics department.

Here are the points:

Xbox 360 version:

Slightly better graphics

I prefer the 360 controller, personally

I prefer to get all my multiplats on one system, so if there's an emergency and I need to sell one for cash I don't need to make as tough a decision.  Also all my friends have 360s so it would be easier to take the game to their place.

PS3 version:

Exclusive downloadable Joker content.

As you can see, I'm leaning toward the 360 version.  Does anyone think the Joker content will be substantial enough that I'm missing a lot if I get the 360 version?  Or any other points I hadn't considered?

Thanks a lot

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I thought you could get the Joker content on the X360 but you have to pay extra. If you are willing to pay for the DLC, then just get the X360 version.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Joker content is something to add value, but it isn't a deal breaker. Based on what you've said I would probably go with the 360. Controller preference is big for me.

...

I don't see downloadable content as anything of value in general so I might be a tad biased but I say go with the 360 version. I think I will too!

Also, the graphics on the PS3 version are the same as the xbox360 version. there is no visual difference in quality at all. The ps3 version, for once, actually seems to have better detail due to less blur. However, the Joker DLC should be the determining factor if you can purchase them all, theres no online in the game, so why not get the most content? You're lucky to have each console.

I think it's really exclusive to the PS3.

Micro-differences in the graphics. Wow. What a dealbreaker.

PS3 version for the Joker content, unless you *really* prefer the 360 controller...

The graphical differences probably aren't even noticeable. Sites just mention which one has better graphics to appeal to fanboys (who are a big part of their readership). Let's face it. If you're in the middle of fighting 10 different thugs, or taking down The Joker (or whatever), you're not going to be caring about minor graphical differences. I never did.

Controller, well, I think it's great on both platforms. It's up to you. The exclusive content with The Joker is appealing, but weighed against the reasons you listed for the 360, it might not be.

However, I'm getting it for the PS3. Wanna know why?

This game is just made for the PS3. Everything about it. The Dark Knight, Batman, in this dark atmosphere. Blackness all around him. It just suits the PS3. Plus, in my opinion, the PS3 boxart for the game looks way better. And I like trophies more than achievements now (yeah, hate me for it, they're just better).

So minor graphical differences aren't a legit reason to determine what version to buy, but the boxart and the color of your console are? Gotcha.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

The Joker content's definitely PS3 exclusive, I know that for a fact.

@Inverted Reality: You could be right, as I haven't played them side-by-side, but I'm pretty sure I saw a bunch more details in the 360 version that weren't in the PS3 one (I've played the PS3 version a lot more). Most reviews say this, too.

Anyone know how substantial the Joker content is? Like how many challenge rooms he gets, for instance?
