Forums - Microsoft - Further reason to believe the 360's sales are inflated due to RROD.

Ignoring all the sarcasm you guys are injecting into the thread, you guys seem to forget that the 360 has such a high failure rate, yet people still buy them repeatedly. PS3s fail, hell even Wiis fail, and there are those that would buy those consoles all over again. But they are few and far between.

The 360 was reported at 33% when it first came out and apparently over 50% according to Game Informer. I know that this one instance doesn't mean it happens for everyone, but I myself have too seen friends who will buy another 360 no matter what happens. And with such a high failure rate, coupled with people who will buy a 360 no matter what.....you have to "surmise" that the numbers are inflated a great deal more than the PS3, Wii, and even the PS2

Why do people tend to forget there's a 3 year warranty for the 360 if they get RROD compare to the ps2 which had a 90 day warranty...and taht's it.

I know there is a lot of sarcasm in this thread, but I am going to post something serious anyway.

The 360's tie ratio is not that impressive. It is only higher than the other two because it has been on the market longer.  The tie ratio should actually be higher than it is.

Good attempt pretty boy, but the 360 has been setting tie ratio records ever since in 2005 it hit 4 games per console.

Of course total volume is what matters at the end tho and the Wii's gross userbase is trumping the 360 in total game sales, but fair is fair.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

You guys forgot to throw in the X360's 3 year warranty. Every time I've heard of someone buying a replacement unit, they get theirs repaired and then sell it on e-bay. So in reality, people are still playing the systems. The PS2 had Disc Read Errors and the only way to get that fixed was by buying a new unit. If you want to talk about a system with inflated sales, you should be talking about the PS2.

Not all the time, and it is certainly fair to say there are those who have bought multiple systems as their warantee expired, or it died before the RRoD stuff was really brought to light. About the PS2 disc read error, I paid £60 to get a refurbished model that worked for some time, before I did have to buy a second slimline PS2. And I have bought 2 PS3 from retail, though 1 just as a BD player

Read this thread.

EDIT: The 360 tie ratio was only at 4 in November 2005.  By December 2005, the tie ratio dropped to 2.54.  The tie ratio didn't get back to 4 until June 2007.

Here's more people that just keep inflating the numbers. "...we've gone through at least 12 machines (a fact) since Microsoft released the 360 in November 2005...we still purchase new machines..." FACT: The number of unique PS3 users is MUCH closer to the number of unique 360 users than the sales numbers would lead you to believe. http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/galleries/top-25-reasons-to-ditch-microsoft/?page=26

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...
