Doesn't bother me much. I have friends that I know I'll be able to play this with.

Personally this doesn't bother me. I rarely go into a Gears 2 horde match with non-friends. Same with Nazi Zombies. I'd rather play this mode with those I am most cooperative with, my friends.
I guess I'll have to make some friends, I barely have any friends that play Halo.

I agree that playing with friends with Horde is better, but I rarely have 3 friends online who have Gears 2, let alone want to stop what they are doing and play. I have actually played 95% of my Horde matches through matchmaking. I have found 80% of the matches are entertaining and you meet some nice people playing that way. I imagine it will happen the same way with ODST for me. I will never have 3 people online who are available to play Firefight. Especially after CoD MW 2 comes out. They should have given gamers the choice, but from what I have read, it would have been a massive code change due to Firefight using the co-op engine. |
Then I can see no matchmaking being a problem for you. I rarely have a bunch of friends playing the same game as well which is why I make a private party send invites to a bunch of my friends and see if they want to play Horde or Halo 3 together. I don't know how close you are with the people on your friends list but I never have trouble finding 2-3 people to play games with.

LOL. Yeah, I guess you are right. When it comes out I will start an ODST Firefight thread or something. I will go ahead and add you. As for the other things mentioned in the OP. They do not matter to me, just the matchmaking thing. |
Really it's exactly the same as custom games in Halo 3. You have to play matchmaking and then invite recent players to custom games, or your friends if any are on. With ODST though you have to play Halo 3 matchmaking (ODST 2nd Disc) and then insert the ODST 1st disc and invite people to Firefight on that.

My bet is still on quickmatch option at the worst.
It's just that simple.
Why no Elites? They were the best the Covenant had to offer and what does Bungie do?
Replace them with god damn dirty apes.

Lol, I hear ya!! I love fighting Elites. Well at least we'll be fighting Elites in Halo: Reach...
That sucks...it seems that it's a technical issue, and after reading the comments, I can see Bungie's point. This is n't a new game engine, but instead a new template (albeit, very expansive) for Halo 3. I certianly hope this means Halo Reach will have it, since my friends list isn't that big.
