Sure, I would have liked it if Atlus had announced Persona 5, but we know that's coming. I'm such a Persona addict that any excuse to replay one of the games in the series is a good enough excuse for me, and the announcement of Persona 3 for PSP works just fine for that purpose. A whole slew of new pictures and video turned up on Famitsu recently, and I thought you fellow Persona addicts might like a look at them.

As you can see from the two videos after the jump, a lot of the look has been tweaked to fit the PSP's limitations. You can also hear some of the new music in these clips, which I like a lot. You can also get a sneak peek at that male attendant in the Velvet Room (yum). Also, voice actress Marina Inoue has been confirmed for the voice of the female protagonist, who you may know from a little role she did as Yoko of Gurren Lagann. 

Seriously ... I'm salivating here. Who's with me? Also, can I date Akihiko yet or what?

Persona 3 Portable has a female protagonist and the original male protagonist. A more detailed Famitsu scan explains you get to choose your gender before the game starts.

The female route has different events and new characters, like a male attendant that replaces Elizabeth in the Velvet Room. Persona 3 Portable is based on The Journey (aka Episode Yourself) part of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Fes, but the male’s story won’t be exactly the same. New events will be added to his path.

Atlus is also changing the battle system by allowing players to control other party members just like Persona 4. While this might blunt Persona 3’s difficulty level, the game has five difficulty levels.

Persona 3 Portable is slated for release on November 1 in Japan. The game will get a simultaneous retail and digital release for PSP Go users, a first for Atlus Japan.

Persona 3 coming to PSP with new female character

Atlus just isn't quite done with remaking Persona 3. A new issue of Famitsu has hit Japanese newsstands and one of the most notable entries is an advertisement for Persona 3: Portable. While details are slim, the ad prominently shows a new female character standing aside the nameless main character of Persona 3 and Persona 3: FES.

The ad proclaims the game will be available on November 1st, which, honestly, seems rather sudden. (No Q1 slump for Japan?) If it follows the model of the PSP port of the original Persona, we're bound to see a ton of extras remixed into the game.

...damn now zexen and a few others are gonna get on my ass about this since one of my real excuses by not playing this game is that its on PS2 and i dont buy PS2 games anymore unless its epic...

For some reason, I'm liking this new way of exploration more than the original. It will make things go a lot faster! It seemed like hard work making it to an important event in the PS2 version. At least they fixed this in P4 (it wasn't as tedious, probably because I did prefer the setting in P4 too).
