I know you guys might be skeptical of this thing and you rightfully should be. It's weird.
But, come on now! Is it really that bad? Nintendo is at least trying to take risks on new ideas instead of just milking Mario and Zelda again and again and again.
So anyways, I wanted to know what ideas people had about this "vitality sensor". I know people have repeatedly said it would work well with horror games, which I don't really buy. How frustrating would it be to lose at a horror game because you can't get your heart rate down. And of course, as you get frustrated, the game only gets harder. Sounds like a lot of fun, doesn't it? Not.
In fact I had an idea for something completely opposite. Instead of punishing you because your heart rate goes up, why not be rewarded. Have a game that's basically like the Hulk. You play through a certain area and get more frustrated as you can't beat it. As your heart rate reaches a certain level, you get added strength and turn into a big, green giant dude that can wack enemies away in one fowl swoop. It would be like virtual anger management.
To be honest though, I'm not sure if the Vitality Sensor is meant to directly control a game. I moreso think Nintendo will use it as a periodic mesuring device throughout their supposed meditation game. "Wii laxation" or whatever it's going to be called, will primarily use the Wii remote as a means of control (If control is even happening at all). They'll probably do things like hot air ballooning or sitting by a duck pond. Simple, relaxing games that can help you wind down and lower your heart rate.
So what do you think? What potential gameplay mechanics or games do you see the Vitality Sensor being used for? (and don't just say horror games). Also, what kind of ideas do you think Nintendo has for their Wii laxation game? (I hope they call it that for real).
